Are all AC adapters for laptops the same? Or can they be of different sizes.

This guy offered me an older laptop. He's selling the laptop for $20, but says I can have a brand new AC adapter for it for $50 if I want!

Are adapters really that expensive? Are they all the same? should i just take the laptop and buy a cheaper adapter elsewere?

thanks, later.

no there are many different types some have different voltages than others and the polarity is different on some most of them have this info printed on them you could destroy your equipment plugging the wrong one into it

Laptop adapters are expensive. They have a unique plug on the laptop end of the cord. No all adapters are not alike.

Look in a place like radio shack and see if they have a cheaper one. Some of their adapters come with a variety of plug-on ends to be universal. That might do it - bring in the laptop when you got to buy it to be sure the plug fits..

Well...........not all AC adapters are the same. Ask the guy to show it to you and see if it fits in the laptop. He could be saying that it's the same size, but not the origonal
