It is perfectly safe. The last cruise ship that sunk was the Andra Dora in the 1950's - And then with only a slight loss of life.
Cruising now has many regulations. First - Before you leave the port you must attend a muster drill where you go to your life boat station and get a safety lecture. In addition, the crew drills periodically on launching life boats.
The titanic was over 100 years ago. Don't worry.
Enjoy your cruise !

In the Caribbean and other tropical areas, there are no icebergs so you're fine. I'd be much more concerned if the cruise was in Alaska or near the North or South Pole where they do have them.
But in all honesty, they are supposed to be very safe. Extra safety measures were put into effect in the first place *becasue* of what happened with the Titanic.

You hear about EVERY incident on cruise ships and they're still small in comparison to any other mode of transportation or vacation. The fact that we're still talking about an incident that happened almost a hundred years ago when there are litterally hundreds of thousands of people on ships every week is a testament to how safe it is. I take a cruise every year and just can't bring myself to stop and do something else. I love it that much!

it is very very very safe to go on a cruise. they have a saftey record higher then any other form of transportation. they have so many differnt ways of pumping out the water and keeping it to a small area. the cruise ships can call anyone in the around for help and help would be there very very fast. if u had to get off the ship, the lifboats can hold a 100 people and are self righting in case they get tiped over. i was on a ship and i never felt safer.

Love, think about it: how many hundreds of cruise ships are on the ocean at any time every day and nothing happens. And besides, they've implemented A LOT of safety precautions and measures since Titanic. And if something were to happen, rescue teams would be able to reach you far faster than they were able to in 1912. Don't worry about something that's not going to happen, love. Enjoy yourself and bring back photos!

I went on a cruise and it was fun and perfectly safe. Titanic happended so many years ago and what are the chances that where you are going you are not only going to hit an Ice burg but that there are not going to be enough life jackets and life boats to save you in the UNLIKELY event that you do hit an iceburg

Frankly, considering the luck cruise ships have been having lately, I'd be a lot more worried about getting some horrible, painful stomach disease. I think you're in pretty good shape these days as far as the ship not sinking.

Heck ya it's safe. I was on a 50 year old passenger freighter which was not in the best of shape from Tahiti to Trinidad and I never felt unsafe even in the worst of weather. That is not to say that something couldn't happen...but I would venture to say that you are safer on a cruise ship than you are driving your car.
