Because that's the American way. Bush wants to look good so do it the Vietnam way. Count every man and woman who were killed during a battle and label them the enemy and then it's OK to count them as "Enemy Killed" and that, of course, makes it OK. All the Bush supporters and warmongers get to rub themselves and say "Well Done". Everyone is happy except the USA troops who must shoot more due to all the Insurgents ( freedom fighters ) we have created due to our actions.

Since the militants and the Taliban are not part of a recognized military organization or representative of a legitimate government its safe to call them "civilians" because thats in a way what they are. You must differentiate however between an innocent civilian and an armed irregular or armed combatant. Thats what these people are. Who by the way do you think shelters and protects these people? Civilians who are sympathetic to the terrorist cause are commiting acts which directly support the armed insufgency. Therefore they too are not innocent. Providing shelter or care to the enemy makes you a legitimate military target as well.

We know? We were there? You cant trust the media on things like this. The news will say "8 Iraqis killed" which implies it was civilians. When it should read "8 Taliban killed". I'm glad you know everything. You could be put to some use!

I don't know exactly what you are referring to, but I do agree that my government (US) is becoming a scary regime. I don't think we will know in our lifetimes what is really going on with this stuff. Since 9-11, most media is a spin to keep the military in the middle east. I'm sure it's all oil/business stuff. Citizens need to change their personal habits, like oil consumption. Solar, wind, etc will force big business and the governments it runs to at least get out of the middle east.

You need to educate yourself on the issue before you embarrass yourself further. This is a gorilla insurgency we are fighting against. They do not wear uniforms. We are trying to persuade them to live in peace with their fellow man. When they wont listen, we persuade them with a 5.56mm argument.
