Why do we fart?
When we eat, we also swallow air. Also, when the food gets digested in the intestines, gas is produced. These gases when passed out through the intestine form the anus into the air are called farts. The gases that make farts smell bad contain ammonia and hydrogen sulfide which are made in the intestine. And eating oily spicy food and drinking lots of soda makes you fart even more.
How do you prevent farts?
Everyone in this world will fart sometime or the other. It is absolutely normal. But to reduce the smelly farts, try avoiding fried, oily, spicy foods, onions and sodas.

Well...I googled farts once and there actually are several sites dedicated to the..er...topic. It turns out most farts are just swallowed air that gets into your digestive tract and eventually, how shall we say...makes its way out. Those are the ones that do not smell particularly bad. The ones that smell bad are from illness, where digestion is not going right and noxious gasses are produced, generally sulphurous gasses. (Parenthetically, I once lit a fart and it scared the well not exactly the sheet out of me, but it was frightening seeing a 3 ft. long blue flame shoot down the leg of my jeans. Methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas, and it is said that cow farts are a major cause of the greenhouse effect.) Well, have a nice day!!!

Flatulence, or gas as it is more commonly called, smells bad. This is due to the breakdown of materials in body. Flatulence is made up of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane, a heady mix!

The primary constituents of flatulence are the non-odorous gases nitrogen (ingested), carbon dioxide (produced by aerobic microbes or ingested), and hydrogen (produced by some microbes and consumed by others), as well as lesser amounts of oxygen (ingested) and methane (produced by anaerobic microbes). Odors result from trace amounts of other components (often containing sulphur).
