if you want to see what new color looks best on you, try using the Jheri Redding line of temporary colored hair spray. shades are black all the way to platinum blonde.

It coats the hair like regular hair spray, but it is like spray paint in that it actually coats a temp color where you aim the can. You should go a shade or lighter than the can says to achieve the color you want. It washes out with shampoo but will make your hair feel dirty or dry, that's the high alcohol level i guess.

None of these home dyes work very well. They all fade quickly to a brassy orange. I hate to tell you, but the only way to get a good color is to pay the big bucks and get a professional job. Even then, you've got to be wary and go to a good stylist who knows what they're doing. If you go to a discount stylist, you're going to risk a hack job.

The best mid-priced color on the market right now is a new one by Enjoy. It makes your hair shiny and the color doesn't fade. You'll have to invest in the shampoo, though, or you'll risk ruining your hair with a high phosphate shampoo after wards. This is true with any color.

You can probably get a stylist to apply it for somewhere between $50 - 60.00, depending on where you live.

I used to use shoe polish, it always works, mix it in baby oil, and apply, it gives a really good colour too.

No dye. It just pollutes the environment for nothing.
