The format of this forum is not conducive to Socratic questioning. There is limited opportunity for follow-up.

You have to look hard to find a serious reply sometimes. If you pose a serious question you'll get about 30% response from Buttholes, 20% ego maniacs, 20% from trouble makers, 20% from wannabe intellectuals, 5% goofballs, 3% perverts, and 2% genuine responses.
Its worth it sometimes though if you can weed through all the crap.

And what kind of knowledge do you wish to gain from this forum?

I believe if you found enough intelligent respondents yes, I don't know that you would get enough but I would be willing. It is a long process, most people are too impatient and tend to take quick answers, and are not concerned with validity of answer.

Hmmmm... I think you would need to be a Medium to question Socrates now... didn't he die last week?

Only if you meet a person with a masters degree like me.
Or possibly if you meet a guy with a bachelors degree in philosophy like me.

Neither, just a lot of jokes as to how you should take some hemlock.

No, in my experience when people on this site strongly believe something, they barely read your question, so how can they answer it.
