hey now,
don't be depressed, although what you're feeling and seeing is what many Christian's have thought at least once before. (myself included) what you have to remember is Christ's own words...."if they hate me, they will hate you".....this is not your home! Your reward is NOT here. We are to have NO expections of what we THINK we should have! No, God does NOT want us to be depressed, or poor or what not....He loves us and wants the best for His children....remember Job; all that happened to him was NOT of God. It was of Satan! (Although God DID allow it to happen) It was done BECAUSE Job was a true man of God, God knew Job's limits, and whatnot. Maybe God's getting ready to take you to another level of Faith. One thing I always try to remember is this...."there IS testing BEFORE the Blessing"!!! You can EXPECT a test! Pass it, move on and receive your BLESSING from our Father! He with little Faith will be trusted with little...

I could go on for hours with things in my life that could have/should have turned me away from God, but they didn't and I couldn't be happier today....hey, email me. I live in Mexico, but I am a member of a church in TN. I watch on-line. Email me @ nici_alardin@hotmail.com

God Bless you!

You have a very valid question and concern.

First of all God is love and He is concerned about you. Pray for yourself, cast all your problems to Him and ask for direction. Pray and read the bible daily - this action not only allows you to get to know the bible but God will speak to you thru His words.

Second, join a church become a member and volunteer, do some community work and go on a mission trip. Join a cell group so that you get to know people and that they can pray for you too. Make sure the church can provide all this. Look at the good side of the church.

You should also know that a success life may not be a life which God has planned for that person. He/She may not be doing Gods work. So you should not compare yourself to them. A successful life is one which you have completed all of the tasks which God has asked you to do. This is usually difficult and self-sacrificing.

Stay focussed on God and allow Him to guide you. In bad times He is building your character for something which he is planning for you to do. So feel pleased with yourself as God is personally moulding you to His perfection.

I know because I have been through this and in this now.

You are not alone. Most true believers feel the same way at various times in their life.

If you are a Christian, then you can't stop being a Christian anymore than a fish can stop being a fish. Paul said, "Their going out from us showed they never really belonged to us."

"Getting ahead in life" is not the things you mention; many people judge their life by "things" but the real measure of your life is the transformation of your heart. Are you allowing God to mold you into the image of Christ?

Jesus said to his disciples and to all future Christians, "In this world you will have many troubles but take heart I have overcome the world." Not many Christians want to claim that promise of Jesus.

If you truly want to find a good church, a true community of believers; ask God to show you; ask God to bring someone in your life that can help you reach the higher plane of your Christian life.

Keep on; many people give up just before they are about to see the light.

I am not a Christian and I will tell you right now it is not your religion that is holding you back. Sitting around expecting God to live your life for you won’t work. I am sure you have heard, God helps those that help themselves. It is your responsibility to find love, a good church, friends, etc… Your last on the list because you put yourself there not because you are a Christian.

No, You do not get the bare minimum from god...Give it time..everybody will be treated equally...The reason you are lonley depressed and stuck in a rut is because you aren't going to church. We just moved so we have to find a new church we have been going to different churches every weekend until we find one that we like. You should do the same. God will give you that special girl, job, church, love, and friends. Just Pray and It will happen. Don't give up on yourself your god. Stay Christian, It will be worth it...Trust me. I will pray for you. Have a great day! God Bless!!!!!!!!!

You state that you get the bare minimum from God Just what do you give God? He is there to help us but we must be willing to ask Him and follow His will. Do not give up, keep visiting Churches and find a good one. Have you been to a Church of Christ? I have been members of the Baptist Church and Methodist. My husband was a member of the Church of Christ and I have become a member also and I feel this is the Church for me. They preach from the Bible. Do give up, keep trying. My God bless you

What does God get from you??
I mean, are you really commited with God? or you are just there waiting to receive from Him but not willing to give??
It's not God's fault. Been a christian is not just attending a church every week...it's more than that...is a relationship and a commitment with God, once you have that you will see things the way they are.
You should read the book of Job...it will help you

I would say never stop believing in God, but there are other religions that also believein God so you could explore those if you felt uncomfortable with your current church. Just visiting or talking to others from different faiths can be a learning experience, esp if you inform them you are not into being"converted" but just exploring. Try a college class in comparative religions that emphasizes experiential learning-not jsut book learning but also visiting temples/mosques,etc. I tried out several different ones before choosing on mylife long faith, it is fun and also enriching to learn first hand and will make you a better person just by having the courage to explore.

are these the only reasons that you became a christian? if it is, then you need to reconsider why you did it. the bible says seek first the kingdom of heaven then all these things Will be added on to you. ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to a good, bible believing, teaching church .then ask Him also to lead you into all truth and help you to learn how to guard your heart,. i believe that what you are going through may be designed to make you leave the Church. I pray that God's truth and knowledge will be given to you throw the Holy Spirit. and believe what Jesus said," I AM with you always, even to the ends of the earth. if you are in a rut, ask Him to help you to get out.

God is presented as an imposing figure; a figure you are responsible to and who can punish or ignore as He pleases.
You may actually feel better if you take on full responsibility for your life. You are not working for a passing grade. Appreciate yourself for what you are, and take satisfaction in even the smallest things that you do without worrying that someone is looking over your shoulder. You are not beholden to any other's hypothetical judgment!
