It's not that serious as to where you have to hate or dislike the people that are trying to spread God's word.

Boy! This is complicated issue. There are many reasons.
1.Some people are afraid of things that they do not understand.
2.Some people are rooted in the pure science point of view. They cannot see how God could be capable of doing the things he does and want to see scientific proof.
3. Some people believe in nothing.
4. Some people do not want the restrictions that religion places on them. You know following God's word, etc.
5. Some people have been hurt very badly by the loss of another loved one and cannot understand how a loving God could allow this kind of thing to happen.
6. Some people see all of the suffering in the world and wonder how God could let this happen.
7. There are a lot people out there spreading a false view of our Heavenly Father to others that influence there choices.
8. Some people look at their leaders and follow their example.
(Mr. Clinton for example.)
9. Some people are put off by pushy Christians that will not stop pushing there agenda when asked to stop.
10. Some people are confused by the fact that there are so many religions and sects out there that claim to be the "True" church.

These are just a few of the many examples that cloud peoples minds and influence there state of mind as pertaining to this subject. I hope I have helped you understand in some way.

I don't think that the majority of people that are against religion are against God. Religion does have a reputation of condeming people and even killing them, in the name of God, during our human past. Depending on who is the leader some religion actually are more into manipulating the human race to follow their point of view. They really should focus on saving souls and introducing people to God. I find that most of the time Religion really teaches hatred instead of love. The way they do it is to say if you do not belong to my religion then you must be evil. The Bible and the Coran teaches Love not hate. However as you can see with the state of things now a days people will do evil in God's name because of religion. Hence the reason why some of us shy away from religion. The fear of being brain washed into hurting somebody is everywhere now.

That's actually 2 questions. People trying to "spread God's word" are proselytizers. One does not have to be "against religion and God" to take exception to people's attempts to convert others to their religion.
Outside of this incessant drive for a greater audience, the general problem some of us have is religious encroachment into areas where it doesn't belong - for example, into science. And in all fairness, even then we are only referring to a small, but shrill, group of religious fundamentalists. There is a great deal of serious and well thought out theology out there. These folks just don't, or can't, read it

I think your question is a little broad. I'm not against God, I believe in God but not in organized religion. I have nothing against freedom of religion, it's everyone's right to choose what they believe.

Your question seems to be aimed at those who are tired of proselytizing and that would include me. I don't hate them, but I do dislike them intensely. I find Christians who persist on "spreading the word" where it is unwelcome highly annoying. I do have a problem with the bible bangers who knock on my door and ask me whether I know if I died today where I would end up - in heaven or hell. The first person who knocks on my door and has the grace and good manners to ask me 1) if I have my own faith and 2)do I WISH to hear about the word of God, I will invite in and offer them coffee. A person with that much good sense might actually be able to have an objective conversation about God without finding the need to pummel me with platitudes.

Those of us who have our own beliefs, and that includes most people, have the right to be insulted by uninvited, unwelcome proselytizing. If we wish to hear about their version of their religion we will attend their church. Why is this so hard for SOME Christians to understand?

there is no such thing as god you guys have a problem. religion is the main cause of most of the chaos that this world went through.

someday people will develope common sence and realize that their faith is false hope. praying dos'nt do anything if a prayer come true it is only by mere coincedence.

and if god was real he is insane.

the bible was writen by the same type of sexist ignorant prejudice men that live in afgahnistan now

and if gods word is true then that means more than half the usa population needs to be killed

in the bible it says rebellious teens should be stoned to death
women are not allowed to speak in church.
and everyone who works on the sabbath should be killed

that means all walmart employees all airline workers doctors nurses priests rabis pastors preachers nuns all need to be put to death. if that's not insane then what the ***** is?

I'm not against god. I don't believe in god so what could I possibly have against god.

I am however against religion. I find it appalling that people need such a crutch.

To me, religion promotes bigotry, intolerance and zealotry. It gives false hope. It promotes subserviance for its leaders purposes. It stunts and has stunted human development and scientific investigation. It provides morals that I don't believe in

But most of all, it gives people an excuse not to be responsible for there own actions and the actions of others.

Religion has been the cause of more deaths than anything else.

I believe that religions are immoral.

As for the 'what harm do they do?' arguement, I would like to quote George Bernard Shaw:

"The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one"

Because it's the easy way out, why not take responsibility for your own actions? why not realise that this is all there is and we all have a responsibility to make it better, not waste time praying to something that was made up thousands of years ago when science couldn't answer the questions people had then. Religion breeds contempt not love....look at the Old Testament, it creates wars not peace, it takes from the poor and gives to the rich...look at any Catholic church. Religon is for the lazy and the weak. We are heading into a new dark age and it's all down to belief in a fairytale.

First of all the world is full of billions of people. Needless to say, everyone is not going to agree on everything. You question is a sweeping generalization and patently unfair. You are living in a very small box if you think that everyone who doesn't have your particular view of God and what to believe is doomed to hell or because they don't believe what you do they are wrong or not loved by God or, Heaven forbid, NOT SAVED.

I was raised in a very popular organized religion, 12 years of the religion's schooling but my God is an all loving God. I would never jam my believes down someone els's throat or be so selfishness as to believe that I am right and they are wrong so they are going to Hell. If you truly believe in God than you also believe in his infinite ability to love everyone and I mean everyone. After all he created us all.

As to your question about disliking people that are trying to spread God's word?? Honey, don't bring it to my doorstep. Why in the world do you people come to my door thinking that you'll save me. How small minded to think that everyone except you and others of your faith are the only ones in the world with a relationship with God. I consider it selfish, disrespectful, small minded and probably as dangerous in some cases as the Muslim extreme terrorist. And oh yeah, God loves them too.

Some people in this world just don't believe in it. They think they need a reason to... some sort of proof that God existed. Some think it's just plain stupid and dumb because they wonder how could something or someone like that ever exist.Others believe in their own religions and faith in their God. People can choose to believe or not to when it comes to God. Others who don't believe sometimes don't want others to either. It really is a harsh life in this world. :(
