Really true love is neither but still encompasses feelings and desires. But I would describe love as a choice and a choice that follows actions. If a person loves you, you should be able to tell through his/her actions. If the actions do not back up the words then the love in not genuine. And once you choose in your heart to love someone it is a choice to stay with them through the good and the bad. Some people say that you can out grow someone and not love them anymore or over time love fades but in truth it means nothing more than you have choose to stop loving that person. All the time you will not have to high feeling you had in the beginning and sometimes you consider leaving but if you choose to stay commited then that is an act of love. True love, never dies and will always try to find away to make things work. So love is not all about heart and the feelings that come with it but it is also about using your head and being careful of your decicions and this comes with time and maturity.

Complicated.
There's "in love" which is all hormones and desire
There's also desire without love which is lust, and one of the seven deadly sins because it generally will hurt the other person
Then there is love which can be without desire (like you love your dog or your dad etc.)
And then - best of all, there is love which is a feeling in your heart, fuelling a desire for the loved-one, and where the loved-one feels the same.

We use the word "love" to cover so many different things. People "love" their country or their football team. It's best to concentrate on what the actual feeling is, and not on what label it has.

And if you want the poetic version of all that, take a look at Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet". Food for the soul

I believe love is a choice. If you really love someone, you have to CHOOSE to love them on the days when you may not LIKE them very much. When things get difficult and it would be easy to walk away, making the choice to stay by their side... that's love.

You basically asking the difference between love and lust. Lust is about sex. Love is the feelings you get when you wanna be around someone all the time, think of them, enjoy what time you do get with them, etc.
