If you want to unwind withoutthe crowd you can consider the geach resort of Hua Hin, 2 hrs south of Bangkok. Nice beach and water, fresh seafood and the peace and quiet to be with your husband. If you need more quiet time, just head further south to pranburi where the Evason Spa is. A great and quiet place to be, and spa packages for the 2 of you.
Another option is Chiangmai to the mountain resort in Mae Sa Valley. Here peace and tranquility rules and with the cool climate, it will fun to wander around and be with nature. You can even try your hand at Thai cooking and learn Thai handicraft in the nearby native shops. And spas as well. Quite a few hotels with spas available.
So go to Thailand, but be out of the big cities. You will get plenty of time with your hubby. Plus the hot savoury food will pique your tastebuds well. And this need not be expensive.

Thailand by far! I went to Phi Phi Island and Krabi (more rustic). Phi Phi had no cars. The movie "The Beach" was filmed there. Very pretty. However, the sunami hit there and I don't know the condition of the place now. I also went to Phuket and Bangkok. These are much busier places than Krabi and Phi Phi. The people were very nice and accomodating. The prices for lodging were unbelievable for what you were getting. Many of the hotels I was paying $120 for would have cost 3 - 4 times that in America. Food was cheap. You pick your lobster and shrimp from a tank live or from an open freezer (like in a grocery market). 3 1/2 lb lobster cost $18!!

South Korea is a beautiful country - I spent five years there and fell in love with the culture and the people.
Check out the beautiful temples and ancient palaces in Seoul, Kwang-ju, Kyung-ju and other spots throughout the country. And the Korean Folk Village in Suwon is a step back about 200 or more years. It reminds me a little of Williamsburg, Virginia's historical significance.
If you like beaches, go to Hae-un Dae beach in Pusan (Busan) in Korea's southernmost city, or Cheju-do Island off the coast. Beautiful scenery!
And if you're into scenery, you HAVE to take a drive from Seoul to Chun-chon - absolutely gorgeous mountain countryside.

Asia wouldn't be among my considerations. Sydney would be the closest, perhaps. It must be Las Vegas or Honolulu, New York or Paris, London, maybe Nice France. Sorry, to many English speaking places available before I need to start another babblemobile!
