I have been diagnosed with mental illness for years. I have tried many meds and they work for awhile then stop. My doctor told me I have been on practicly everything for my illness. I dont like the meds, I cant think clearly, I have trouble with relations with my wife, etc. So, I see the doctor and dont take meds. I seem to be getting used to my illness i.e. hulucinations, mood swings etc. and I hide them alot. I feel its just something I am cursed with. Am I doing wrong. The lying to the doctor and therapist is bothering me because it makes me feel guilty but I am just fed up. I know people are seeing changes in me so I am more self conciouse than usuall. Am I going about this all wrong???

You're not alone. Others have the same problem. Vitamin therapy might help you.
2000 mg. of no-flush niacin (this helps counter act mental disturbances) 800 I.U. of vitamin E taken with foods high in vitamin E (for better absorption), 400 I.U. of vitamin D, 10000 IU. of vitamin A, 4000 -8000 mg of Omega 3 [amount depends on how bad your auditory and visual disturbances]. 3000 mg of vitamin C time released 5000 mcg sublingual vitamin B 12 (Sublingual vitamin B 12 gets into the body quicker and more of the vitamin actually reaches the body.) a B complex vitamin also [B abd B12 helps mood swings, etc] 500 mg. of cal-mag. (calcium and magnesium carbonate to make vitamin C more effective.) 6 tablets of Schiff or HEB brand of CAL-Mag in addition to help with tics, muscle spasms, etc. There is a better way!

I think you ARE going about it wrong. The meds are there for a reason. Like that commercial says, it doesnt just hurt you, it hurts everyone around you. I am bipolar myself. I have taken meds since 1996. If I were you, I would get back on the meds that worked best for you. Even if they make your mind fuzzy, at least you arnt feeling that torture. So many ppl quit taking their meds, just becuz of that reason you mentioned, and I myself like it better than the pain the illness gives me.

Please rethink it all...for yourself, and also your wife.

ALSO.....the desease progresses with age...how long can you hold on before you really have a problem?

I'm sick of doctors too. They seem more focused on throwing drugs at the symptoms rather than effecting a cure for the illness. I went through several doctors, dozens of drugs, suicide attempts, hospitalization, and group therapy. All too no avail. It wasn't until I learned to properly apply cognitive therapy that I got out of that miserable rut. Here's the book that did the trick:

Read my story here:

The only thing that bothers me is the hallucinations. I had major anxiety episodes and vivid yucky thoughts, but I wouldn't call them hallucinations. So I can't promise this will help. What I can promise is... it certainly can't hurt to try it... it might help.

yes. see a different doctor or psychiatrist that can put you on the right combination of meds that will work for you. lying will only interfere with your treatment. don't do any other drugs/alcohol either. try to stay on a daily routine with your activities, get enough sleep and exercise and have lots of sex with your wife!!!

Instead of lying to my doctor, I might try seeking out another specialist to help me. It seems rather silly to me to continue to pay a doctor for their advice, then not to follow it, then to lie to the doctor so they can't help you. That's just wasted money. So if you still feel that you need treatment, and the doctor is not providing it in a way that is satisfying to you, you should find a doctor you can be completely honest with and who is trying to help.

Believe it or not, the foods you eat MAY have something to do with this. I highly recommend checking out www.gprx.com, or jordanrubin.com. His insight is quite amazing. His formula may not be exactly what you need, but it may put you on the road to recovery. There is obviously something physiological going on, so why not just check out the book(s) and see if you might need to make some adjustments in your life.

It sounds like rigidity. I remember reading from a e book that as quickly as your rigidity it pulls blood away out of your hand and that i became taught relaxing concepts. So my element is it must be rigidity. As on your IBS it incredibly is likewise brought about by under pressure and melancholy. i might carry out a little yoga or something to help relax. I gurantee that's going to help.

I don't know, but my reading suggests that you may want to get checked out for high insulin (hyperinsulinemia), because if you have it, it can influence your mental state - especially if you have one condition that it causes - hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
