I am kind of moving things along myself right now, but I don't want to rush him into anything he's not ready for. It's not like we're 13 year olds or something; actually we're in college, but he's still very shy and slow to communicate. He does manage to work up the courage to invite me to do things once in a while, but it's pretty awkward once I'm there. Ideas?

Join him in something he is really interested in. It will help him to forget his shyness and he will get caught up in explaining and sharing it with you. Or ask him to help you with something you KNOW he is good at (college algebra? - anatomy? - whatever) and let him strut his stuff for you. Does wonders for a man's ego.

Hm, exciting question. truthfully, i think of his shy section wins. His on degree character grew to become into basically that, a character. He grew to become into truthfully flamboyant and distinctive than the norm in authentic existence, yet i think of his introverted section wins... relatively lower back in like...the early to mid Nineteen Seventies, whilst he nonetheless looked so uncertain of himself.

Get him to go out and do something then while you are walking in to wherever you are going grab his hand and hold it.
Then maybe lean into him some and let him know to bust out and make a move.

You do the talking now, and slowly he will open up and trust you and will speak freely. The quiet ones have a lot to say, just not to people they don't know and trust.
