Elections are coming up and I have been paying close attention to what both sides are saying. Health care is so expensive because you Liberals are fine with illegal immigrants coming here and having their babies and not paying for the health care. It is the fault of the illegal. Don't you get that? It isn't the fault of the republicans, it is the illegal’s!

They come over here and take for free what we work hard to pay for. Hell, I don't even have health insurance because of how much it is, and we don't qualify for for any assistance what so ever.

My family pays our health care cost's right out off our pocket. We also are a one income household for I am a stay at home mom for oour 21 month old boy. Or GP is very understanding toward us and is a great doctor. I used to live in NM, and the health care there is way under buget and staff. They will actually take care of the person who doesn't speak any english, before they will even talk to an American citizen. I have seen it first hand.

And in the immigration issue, I totally disagree with Bush. I stand by him with everything else but this one thing.

I also don't blame liberals for everything, some do make some great points. But I have seen the impact that illegal immigrants have on health care. My family has never been able to get health care treatmnet with out showing an insurance card ( when we had it), or something showing where we live to send the bills directly to us.

mayflower, they were trying to colonize. People where welcome then. Even 100 years ago immigrants where welcome. We didn't have social security or anything of that nature at that time in history. Now, we have those things, and to be an immigrant to this country, you should go through the proper channels. They need to get a ss#, and than pay into the system. They don't pay taxes or anything of that nature. When they go through the proper channels, I will be the first to welcome them to this country.

Malvon L great pooint. You are right. I used to work construction and worked side by side with illegals. They took my job and I was only being paid minimume wag. I was also one of the best on the crew. They couldn't hold their own weight. I had to fix multiple problems that they had caused. Whether it be bad tiling, or some frame work got screwed by someone reading the ENGLISH wrong, or something else. They do the jobs that Americans want.

I have found they would rather just buy a new ID rather than pay emergency room bills or pay traffic fines/ damages etc. Because they don't carry insurance they do not have a regular MD and as a result come to emergency rooms for general care, thus when we need urgent care we end up waiting behind them.
this also leads to confusion when you can't understand what they are presenting with.
The solution in my area is to only take 'bilingual' nursing students. Bilingual in this case means English/spanish, proficiency in any other language doesn't count.
We are facing a nursing shortage that will only get worse, this move isn't going to help.
Aside from that, the U.S.A. is a melting pot not a chili pot! What makes us unique and strong is in the past we have taken in many different races and assimilated the best parts of their cultures. Now we are being forced a heavy infusion of one culture that seems hell bent on turning us into the same corrupt non functional mess they are leaving behind.
Not to mention bringing along a resurgence of long controlled illness such as TB, only now they are stronger and antibiotic resistant.

Health care has been expensive for years, who are you kidding?.Illegal immigration and open borders have been going on for years also. It'san issue now because it's an election year.If you have been watching politics, you would have heard comments like, "They are here doing jobs that americans don't want to do". I beg to differ, they are here doing the same jobs I do but bring the wages down. I agree that illegals are illegals, but , I'm not going to blame all democrats for this when the moron won't do a thing about open borders, and hasn't done it since 9-11

Just a couple of points. The problems with health care predate the immigration crisis. The cost of women without insurance having babies is not bourne by the insurance companies. Republicans have been in control of the federal government for the past 6 years. During this time, as many as 6 million illegals have come to the US. President Bush favors a type of amnesty for most of the illegals who are here already, and does not enforce laws against hiring undocumented people.

Any minimal impact illegal immigrants have on the health care system is offset (and then some) by all the labor they do for our economy.

California (and for that matter the whole nation) would come to a halt without illegal immigration.

I wholeheartedly believe there needs to be a lot more done to stop illegal immigration. However, blaming illegal immigrants (or liberals) for rising health care costs is absolutely ridiculous.

If Republicans (and democrats) would focus their attention on health care for even a minute, we might find a solution to rising costs and poor children who don't receive care.

(another option: blame liberals for everything!!! that seems to be solving a lot!)

Sounds like you need some background education before you pay close attention. Illegals ultimately do spend tax dollars by visiting hospitals, but generally for emergency treatment. When was the last time you were able to receive free health care at any US Hospital without proof of insurance?

Health care is expensive because private companies have usurped the industry, drug companies maintain artificially high prices for medicine, and hospitals operate like corporations.

typical ignorant american. the left wing actually favours free health care, while the right wing is designed to protect the rich. thats why health care is so expensive in the states, because the rich are protected with low taxes so they are paying for no one but themselves. seriously gin, go get an education. stop blaming illegal immigrants. if you look at it seriously, the white man has no right in the states, so technically, you are illegal as well. so if the mexicans go, you should go too. just because the white man took the land by force (massacre), doesnt mean they are entitled to the land.

Oh I know all the problems of the world are the "LIBERALS". Haven't just as many conservatives been in office since illegal immigration has been going on?? When are you people gonna get past the childish bashing of each other and work together for a solution. It's easy to spew hatred and stereotype people, let's see some solutions we can all work on together!

And the percentage increase in healthcare due to illegals is much smaller than the increase due to uninsured poor american citizens. If your interest is in lowering healthcare costs, you are in favor of a public health care system, at least for the poorest americans? That would prevent uninsured persons from raising health care costs on the rest of us.

Why don't you ask the presidents uncle, William H.T. (Bucky) Bush? He's on the board of directors of the nations largest health insurance company.
I'm sure if they weren't making plenty of money they wouldn't accept the status quo.

Many people are blowing the issue of illegal immigrants totally out of proportion. If it's meant to generate hysteria they're doing a good job.
