You better look into this more. I found my dad too after many years of searching. That is a common name. There could be 100's with the same name. You can find your father through the Social Security Office. You need his name, place of birth, social security number, birthdate, and middle name. The more information you have the better. You also need your birth certificate and any information from your mother, such as pictures and stories about him, like: What is his major occupation? What is his height? Does he wear glasses? Is he right handed or left handed? Does he play a musical instrument? Has he any tatoo's? Was he in the service, when, where? Is he remarried, where?

just go to Mapquest or google maps or any of them and type in Independence, Missouri (MO) and you will know precisely where that is
as to locating Roger Spaulding, Independence is a fairly big town but you could start by checking an online phone book like:
