My cat will not leave me alone! He is obsessed with me and I am getting really annoyed! He has always been attached to me, but not this bad. I had a baby a year ago and he seemed fine. This last 3 mths, he sticks to me like glue! Can he be jealous of my DS now? Isn't it a little late for that? He doesn't groom himself very well now either. He leaves his fur all wet and sticking up. What is wrong with him?

The fact that he is not grooming himself is a sign of something wrong,, whether illness, or depression. What does he have to do all day? does he go outside? have someone to play with? cats are very social. could it be that there is something on his fur which is making it distasteful to groom? How old is the cat? craving attention is not the same as jealousy. what was the relationship before you had the baby? did he get a lot of attention then, that he would be lost without now?
I also think a referral to the vet would be a good idea, since your problem is really bigger than just one answer here can completely solve.

Would it hurt to show him some affection now and again? Maybe groom him to get him feeling good.
You probably don't realise that in looking after your baby, you have withdrawn from him a little. If you don't want to spend time, or no longer can, then find a home who will adore him...

mabey your cat is going through a phase. give him sometime and then if he is not turning back to normal take him to a doctor. well your cat being attached to you is better then it attacking you. last summer my friends cat went bazar. it scratched and put holes in the wall made loud noises. the cat had never acted that way before. they had to get her taken away she was too dangerous. so they got two new cats from my cat that had babies. and everything is working out.

Not grooming right can indicate a mouth problem.. He could have a tooth ache . ! And yes he could be trying to tell you this.. Is he drinking more than normal.? Does his breath smell worse than normal.. ? Can you look at his gums ?
To be sure to be sure ... bring him to the vets

I would say he is jealous and in need of extra attention. I have a year old cat that needs constant love and she will bite my leg if she does not receive it. Just give him extra love when he is not bothering you and he will feel appreciated and should back off.

He is just jeolous. He isn't the baby anymore and needs more of your attention.

Hahahaha... that is great. My cat used to go nuts every now and then... he once ate some headphones of mine so we stopped talking to him, he soon learnt his lesson and apologised.
