Man, if you try and it fails, you could have problems accepting that and assuming all is well, especially if you stay under the same roof. You sound mature enough to me and what I can advise is that if you feel you can handle rejection, go ahead and give it a try. No one achieved anything by sitting on their hands when there is something to be done. Age shouldn't worry you at all unless you are much smaller than her.

Man, you've got two problems that you need to face up to:
1) Long distance relationships are hard to manage. I know coz my first love went off to the States to further his studies and I was sixteen....we broke up after he left for 4 months. I took 3 whole years to get over him!
2) You are both at different stage of your lives. She's in college and you are still in high school. Both of you are at different stages of your lives even though you are barely 3 years apart.
It'll require quite a bit of adjustments if you wanna be with her. Then again, if you truly love her so much, love conquers all. Follow what your heart tells you, man! My boyfriend's a poor chap and there's so many sacrifices I have to make just to be with him. But I always tell myself 'Love conquers all!' That's how I get by each day.
Tell yourself that every day and good luck!

For now, just ask her out as a friend. Don't hit on her, because she will not date anyone under 18 years old.
For example, ask her to go with you to movies, Starbucks, or any common hang-out places. I am sure she will love it, and she will never forget you. So when you do get to be 18 years old, you ask her for a date.

Wow that sounds so sweet! I think if you really like her then you
should go for it and ask her out but don't get your hopes up to
much. Just try starting by asking if she would want to go to lunch
or something and you could say that it wasn't a date if she wasn't interested and you can say that it is if she is interested.
Good Luck!

It is not the question what I feel friend ! The question is what does she feel about you ? Just a friend or something more ? If later you may proceed as well.
