A good 2-megapixel camera will usually yield great 5x7 prints with no problem. At 8x10 you'll probably notice a loss of quality. As the previous poster stated, you can print at any size you like- the print just won't look very satisfactory if you go too high. Of course, different cameras produce varied results based upon the quality of the lens & factors like electronic noise (especially in low light), but that's a baseline.

There isn't a limit on how large you can make the picture. It depends on what resolution you print at. The lowest screen res is 72 dpi. A print at 150 dpi will look much better even though the size may be smaller. 300 dpi is generally the default for most printing applications. A professional printer will sometimes set the dpi to 355 or higher depending on there equipment. At 72 dpi the picture would be 14.222 inches (36.12 cm) wide by 10.667 inches (27.09 cm) tall. At 300 dpi the picture will be 3.413 inches (8.67 cm) wide by 2.56 inches (6.5 cm) tall. You could print it out at a pixel per inch but it would be very large.

If the picture is actually 1024*768 pixels, you only used 0.8 megapixel. That's fine for viewing on a screen but order the print as small as possible.
