The Food and Drink Federation spokesman in today's paper is quoted. "Take mayonnaise. Both light and regular will attract a red traffic signal. How does that help the consumer?" Well, we'll know not to bother with stuff marked Lite, for a start.

I don't get that about "attract a red traffic signal". Does the red light jump down from the post to get into the jar with the mayo? Is this just a way of saying you don't like calorie-reduced foods or does it make sense somehow?

What's the point in labelling salt and sugar, salt only has salt in it and sugar only has sugar in it.
