Go to the vet, he probably has an infection which can only be treated with anti-biotics. Its also possible he had some trauma to the eye such as running into a bush or stick that poked into his eye. Definetly get it checked out by the vet, and until then keep it clean by lightly wiping away the mucus with a soft warm wet cloth.
Good luck

Take a wet warm rag and place it on his eye to moisten the area and wipe away the mucus. Chances are that this is just a slight infection from the outside and will clear up with alittle TLC. If this doesn't help take him to the vet. Good luck and God bless

Get about 4 cotton wool balls, using hot water from the kettle and some salt (obviously not boiling hot water) clean the dogs eyes using a clean ball every time, you can get some eye ointment (tetracycline eye ointment). If it doesnt clear up in about 2 days take it to the vet to have them looked at.

Take some warm water and gently cleanse the area to get rid of and disolve the mucus. If it continue to occure, take him/her to the vet as this can be a sign of a much more serious problem.

bypass on your vet. do no longer use any human eye meds. you do no longer understand if that's in basic terms an infection or some thing extra extreme. that's not well worth risking your canines's sight to save some funds. in the journey that your canines has a scratch on his eye and you utilize any medicine with cortisone in it, you could reason an ulceration. yet however... it would desire to be ulcerated already. wish that's some thing basic, yet have your vet examine him out right now. solid luck.

Take him to the vet and get some antibiotics! There could be something stuck in his eye that only a vet should remove, or it could be an infection. You don't want him to lose his eye do you? Get it treated!

Mix a solution of warm water and Epsom salt to rinse off the eye. This will give him some temporary relief until you can take him to the vet.
