About 8 months ago I pulled/injured a hamstring walking my very enthusiastic dog. I can feel it about halfway down the back of my left leg and running up to my upper groin. It pulls painfully after deep squats and after using stepper a lot or just heavy exercise. I can't help but think there must be something I can do to alleviate this problem. I don't like to overuse painkillers or anti-inflammatories due to ulcer history. Any Ideas? (No, non exercise is not a long-term option.) I do stretch everyday, but that doesn't seem to help avoid the problem. Maybe I am not doing it right? Heat feels good of course but again, it doesn't seem to be helping in the long run. Is this just something I need to learn to live with or is there a solution?

the best one involves having a partner, so if u dont have someone to help buy a stretch band..
lay on your back and have one leg up in the air and the other on the floor.. have the partner push the leg towards your chest.. keeping your knee straight.. hold for a good 10-15 secs, push a little more forward and repeat till you cant go further without bending the knee. (same procedure with stretch band just put band around toes to pull leg back toward you)
