It can be a good deal but you MUST treat it like any other car purchase! This simply means that you need to travel to the seller and inspect and drive the vehicle just like any other vehicle purchase! You need to do that BEFORE you submit your bid since you are entering into a legally binding contract and CAN be compelled to complete the purchase if you are the winning bidder!
Most folks who are dissatisfied with car purchases on eBay make the mistake of buying sight-unseen. They'd never dream of buying a car sight-unseen from a seller in the same town but blissfully send thousands of dollars to an unknown seller two thousand miles away and then complain about being taken for a ride. As P. T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute."
Keep in mind that most vehicle sales on eBay are no better bargains than if you went to a local dealership or bought one through the classified pages of your local newspaper. Quite to the contrary, most eBay auto sales are BAD deals for the buyer especially if they get caught up in a bidding war on a popular vehicle. That's the other major reason for dissatisfaction with eBay auto sales.

It is always a good idea if you can save yourself some money, especially with the gas prices lately. If you feel comfortable with trying it, go for it. Just ask the seller a lot of questions. Ebay has several policies in place to protect the purchaser and seller alike. If you buy something and it turns out not to be what you bid on, all you have to do is notify Ebay and their legal department will take it from there. The same goes if you sell something to someone and they don't pay. Just notify Ebay and they will take care of it. I hope this little bit of information helps with your decision.

No its not. You could be scammed and dont know the seller. Not worth the few hundred you might think you are saving. The aggravation is not worth your time. I know someone was taken this way. My advice is to bid but not give any money till you see the car, inspect it and verify its a good buy. Most cars on ebay dont sell as the seller doesnt get the price they want and they have too high of a reserve.

be VERY careful buying any car sight unseen. I would suggest only looking at cars where you can examine it and test drive it before placing a bid...check out cars.com or autotrader.com
