The seven deadly sins are straight out of catholic doctrine. They are not found in the bible. The 10 Commandments are still being followed but Through the new Covenant with Jesus some of the punishments are not as strict. They are deadly because some man said they were.

The "Seven Deadly Sins" are by themselves not mentioned in the Bible. Like the word Rapture, these are ideas that are man made. However, there are sins that are considered, in the bible, more severe than others as what the word "Rapture" stands for is also in the the book. Look beyond man made words and know what the the meaning of all sin and the after-life with God means.

Proverbs 6:16-19. The Ten Commandments are not sins, but commandments to be obeyed. Failure to obey them is sin. The seven deadly sins are deadly because they can lead to eternal death in hell.

The sins are from people. If you break them down they are a compliment to the 10 commandments. For example, the first commandment is that God is first. Any sin is an attempt to forget that God is first.
Lists help simplify the role of the preacher and the confessor.

Not from the bible. Probably from Pope St. Gregory the Great and St. John Cassian.
