If it was an emergency c section they dont always have a chance to show you the baby since they have to clear his lungs, check his vitals and sometimes get him in an oxygen tent or what have you.
It is irritating, but things happen to quickly at those moments theyre not always able to explain every detail.
Even if he's "fine" your hospital might be one that takes certain precautions for ever emergency c section, such as clearing lungs and giving the baby oxygen.
It seriously sucks, they should have atleast given you a mirror to watch the whole thing if you wanted it.

My second son was an emergency c-section. They held him up over the drape/curtain (VERY) briefly--long enough for me to see a quick glimpse of him, then they whisked him off to the other side of the room to be cleaned up, weighed, measured, etc. I had a spinal block and was pretty much numb from mid-chest down (not including my arms, though) but they still didn't let me hold him until I had been in recovery for a while, until the numbness started wearing off. They wheeled him in his little crib/bassinet thing to recovery with me, and all I could do was stare at him (he was next to my bed). I guess maybe they thought I'd drop him since they thought my arms were slightly numb? I don't know.

With my first, they showed her to me while they were fixing me up and right after they had cleaned her up a little. Then I had to go to a recovery room for 2 hours and lay there by myself miserable, scared and not knowing what was going on. That was 11 years ago. I had my son 7 mths ago by C and the experience was much better. I got to watch them clean him because they had the table placed right in my view. When they needed to take him out to do all the other stuff, my husband went with him and they finished with me. Then they took me directly to my room and husband and baby were both there waiting for me. I was so surprised and happy because I expected a repeat solo wait of 2 hours. I am sorry that your experience wasn't the same.

Circumstances are different from place to place and from delivery to delivery. My wife was so groggy from the medication that she couldn't focus her eyes to see our newborn. They are also in a hurry to get you sewn back up. Since you cannot go back, you can plan ahead. If there is a next time, put your wishes in writing and talk with the physicians. They will try to follow your wishes providing it does not jeopardize your health or the baby's. I am certain that you enjoy the little one. Keep up the good work. Move on to better things than the past.

Usually when they dont let u see the baby right away it's because of a respiratory failure or something like that, c section babies tend to have more fluid in their lungs since it's not squeezed out on the birth canal. They told me mine was fine, but i barely found out that he was rushed to the NICU, u need to read the discharge papers. I barely read them and my son is 1 and a half

My wife got put under after the anestethi...aentseth..the guy giving her the epidural screwed it up. It really messed with her head. She felt like there waasn't the same connection, like my daughter MIGHT not be hers because she did not make that initial connection. As soon as she woke up, she fought hard to get her brought in...finally they did. We've have several since and that has not happenned again. i'm sorry, but it'll fade after a while. Your chld will make you forget that feeling. Good Luck

Hello, I had a c-section with my 4 month old little man and they let me see him right away. They also gave him to my husband to hold right away and he held him close to my face so I could give him a kiss! Maybe there was another issue which caused your situation? I am sorry you didn't get to see him right away; it really is a special moment.

I had a c-sect with my son and even though he had a few problems at birth(fine now)they still placed him next to me so I could kiss him before they worked on him.
