Jesus said, "and I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for unchasity, and marries another, commits adultery."
How many of you are living in sin, and defying what Jesus said?
I'M NOT JUDGING YOU, I'M ASKING A QUESTION.
How many of you honestly, are defying what Jesus said?

You can't claim to take the bible literally, and then claim it's not wrong. WAS JESUS WRONG????

You know what that is the question of all time and I have no answer. But I believe that if you divorce except for adultery you should remain single and serve god as a single person but I'm not god so I can't really say. I have been married 5 times and do not serve god I'm just a sinner by choice. I don't know if god would except me back into the fold if I tried because i did divorce my first husband for adultery but not 2,3, &4 still with number 5 so I guess if I ever decided to go back to the lord i'll just have to take my chances right

Sir, You don't know your Bible too much, I agreed there is verses that condems divorce, But there is more verses that actually lays out when a person can get a divorce & remarry. If an unbeliver leaves let them go, A Brother or a Sister is not under bondage anymore, in other words, they are not under bondage of their marriage vows, If one comits fornication, or aldultry, that also give the innocent person scriptual teachings to remarry. Now if a unbeliver leaves & that unbeliver remarry & later on they get Saved, God will forgive them, Because they did not comit the unpardonable sin. Yes I am against divorce, But I am also for it under Scriptual teachings. I am going to use myself as a example to you, I have been married 2 times. Now I know you are thinking haha I got him, no you don't. First of all My first wife died after us being married for 21 1/2 yrs. That clear me to remarry, Do you know some belives is that even a widower can not ever marry again, Hogwash to that. My first wife die, & now I am married to my second wife who also was a widow when I met her. There was a person I knew that said I could not ever marry again. Now since you try to see how many was living in sin, Study your bible, you know that book you use to try to condeme innocient people. There is scriptual teachings for divorce & remarriage, So lets don't go over board & said they all are living in sin. It depends on what circumstances cause that divorce. An innocient person is free to remarry. No Jesus did Not Lie.

It is extremely sad how many people who know the Word of God and claim to believe it still don't want to believe it ALL. So many these days try to come up with reasons that divorce is perfectly fine. I have thought many times about divorcing my husband, but I promised God until death do us part. There is no way that I could read the Bible and then justify divorce knowing that the Bible says it is wrong.

I'm divorced, and although I'm not remarried yet, I hope to be some day. Though there was definitely "unchastity" on the part of my ex, that isn't the only reason we're divorced. I just can't believe that God would hold it against us and expect us to be alone the rest of our life because we made a mistake in marrying someone we shouldn't have. If it is a sin, I'm sure He will forgive us for it.

Hey Good question: I'm Christian and have a masters in education and teach a class on divorce & the bible.
First yes, that is one reason for divorce, the other reason is: If you marry and unbeliever.
I always tell divorced Christians that you must understand God himself went through a divorce when he gave Israel a bill of divorcement.
Also grace covers all sin...even if you are the offended one. A perfect Christian does not exist. We have many laws in the bible...only one who never failed. We aren't in any way perfect...just forgiven!

There are so many evangelicals who have divorced their wife, yet are so intolerant of gays, women as religious leaders, and other religions.
I, as a progressive Christian, am always accused of picking and choosing what beliefs I wish to follow; perhaps it's the conservative Protestant that does so.
While I'm not Catholic, I must admit I respect Catholics for their consistency. If Jesus said divorce is wrong...

Good question. I'm divorced, but not remarried. I do believe it is allowed, as Paul says let every man have hie wife and not burn with passion. The Jews allowed it too. Would it be any better to burn with lust? This is adultery, too. But it says also the divorcing one causes the other to commit adultery if they remarry.

I would never defy Jesus but figure this if my ex husband cheated on me which he did and my fiances exwife cheated on him numerous times which she did,Is it not true that we are actually victims of other peoples adultery and they have actually ended the marriage relationship making us scriptually free to remarry?Im sorry but once my Ex cheated on me to take him back would of possibly subjected me to STDs and I was not willing to do that.

I agree with you. Jesus said a man leaves his mother and father and clings to his wife and the two become one flesh. What God has put together let no man take apart. So don't make excuses and twist things because it suites you, ok.

anthonyinkc,
I'm neither married, nor divorced, nor so I have a partner currently. Be that doesn't mean that I am not living a clean life. So any judgement I might think about someone who is living such a way, It's none of my buisness.
Those that make a big deal about it should exercise more faith. And walk your own walk. IMO.
