--Adolf Hitler

"The national government...will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality."

Well, telling people they would get eternal joy after life was the only way hitler could get people to die for him. Unfortunately a lot of people were weak-minded enough to believe that stuff.

I had never read these quotes before. I will have to say that, as with much of what is said, written and believed by anyone, there is part I can agree with and part I cannot. I believe there is a place for secular education outside of religion. But to some people religion and education are intertwined. I totally disagree with his statement that "moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air." Religion is only one aspect of faith. I have more of a tendency to agree that "character training and religion must be derived from faith." People do need to believe in something, whether it is religion, science or their ability to shop at Wal-Mart and amass capital at the expense of those who can't or don't.

The second paragraph is just, I think, a tenet of National Socialism. It is scary for me to think that National Socialism is so simliar to what we have today in the United States with its bias toward Christianity as the basis of all morality.

Hitler was no fool, he knew that attacking the Jews was safe enough but to attack the Catholic Church was not very wise, he just bet on a winning horse.

I firmly believe that secular schools are better off that way. Religious instruction at school, in particular catholic instruction, the way I've seen them work in some private schools in Mexico, encourage intolerance and discrimination. Religion is best taught at home and at your church, whatever your denomination.

Well I think the guy was not as crazy as people might thought...

He just did things in the wrong way...

Still, I believe when he says "we need believing people" --well even if he was thinking of Christian feith, what at the end he actually did: was turned "nationalism" in the feith germans needed in that time...

And it happens in US the same thing nowadays: people really worships "shoppin" and all the fashion system has replaces any religion for americans.

Of course the advantage is that this new "religion" give business people economical advantage over the masses.

I agree with what was said in your posted question, even though it came from Hitler. However, despite how much I agree with what was said, what he did to attempt to back up those words was extremist. A true believer in those words would not have gone to such extremes that he did where he turned around and began to break many of the 10 commandments; starting with thou shalt not murder. I believe in my heart, God did not, and still does not, condone one act Hitler performed.

Hitler told the people what he knew would they would listen too. It was part of the brainwashing process.

He was insane but very very smart. He had charisma.

I wouldn't go taking what he said to heart.....he was a murderer and the world knows it. I would think twice before following anyone who stated the things Hitler stated. It didn't lead to good things the first time.

As the saying goes, "Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it."

It is difficult to give any credence to such a monstrous man, for the ravings of lunacy are grounded somewhere deep in blackness.

I think that's basically the same attitude that drives schools in the US as well, but they've replaced religious worship with worship of the state. They even pray to the symbol of the state every morning.

It is Truth that Hitler never practiced. He was the Devil's agent in the mass murder of millions of God's people, Israel. There have always been many hypocrites who profess to know God and who have associated themselves with the Church. God has clearly testified to this. It is only those who practice what they preach who will be saved. Believing in God who is Jesus without works is a dead faith. You have to have love and works or you will die forever.

It would seem that Hitler made these remarks to pander to the religious voters. Politicians tend to do that.
