Cats cannot properly digest cow's milk. Milk is not necessary for a cat, it is just a nice treat. Most pet stores, like PetSmart or Petco, sell milk made specifically for cats. Use that instead and the both of you will be happier for it.

your cat doesn't need milk at this age. If you give it any, use small amtsas an occasional treat. Same with tuna fish.
The kitten should be fine with dry food. Canned food is a nice treat but dry is better for their teeth. Use any canned food as just a special treat and limit the amount also, they get diarrhea from too much canned food also'
Although kittens drink even cow milk,, the adults tend to get diarrhea really bad from cow milk.

Cats don't need milk ever after they are weaned. I have one cat that likes to lap up some milk from the bottom of my cereal bowl.
That's not a daily occurence at all.
Milk really doesn't do much for cats as far as their nutrition is concerned. It can be a treat if they like it and it doesn't give them the runs.

Hi Clare...as you may have noted that everyone knows it's not healthy to give a cat cow's milk. Too many people don't realize that it's not beneficial for them as it can cause bowel disturbances such as diarrhea because of cats are lactose intolerant. As an an occasional treat it is fine (like a lick from a teaspoon). Any vet can confirm this fact. Please be sure to let your friends know about this too. They can do a search on Google by typing "is milk good for cats" (or click forward this link to them as it does the search already: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=is+milk+good+for+cats&btnG=Google+Search) to learn more why milk shouldn't be offered to a kitty in general. Pet stores offer lactose free cat milk so you could offer him some of this without any problems.

I give mine Lactaid milk since cats are lactose intolerant. I only give it to her about once a month or so for a treat and only a little bit.

Don't give your cat milk because it will give him a serious case of the trots. Trust me, I learned this the hard way and it is NOT fun to clean up!
Cats don't need milk, just a nice clean bowl of cold water. (My cat is picky and he prefers ice cubes in his bowl).

Do not feed your cat cow's or goat's milk because it makes them sick. A majority of cats are lactose tolerant and cats have a very delicate stomach.
