Another example of American arrogance. Marathon was invented in England. The marketing in the Eighties was superb - eat a Marathon and run a marathon! Snickers doesn't quite do it somehow...

a marathon bar is one of the most sought after retro candy bars in the states...from the seventies, about a foot long and just chocolate and caramel that looked like a braid
this is nothing like a snickers

I think its got something to do with globalising brand names ie making us more like the Americans! I still think of Marathon and Opal Fruits. And didn't Oil of Olay used to be different?

I'm American (usa) and we have always called them snickers. I heard it's because the guy who invented them "snickered" all the way ro the bank. Weren't they invented here in the good ole usa?

That's what we call them here in the U.S. And M&M's have never been called Treats over here. Sorry to say this, but I think your candy names are the latest victim of the American Revolution.
