If it's a man, it's probably a prostate problem... needs to be seen... SOON.! I had that happen to me over the period of a year and it just kept getting worse. Finally, last December I woke up one night in the worst pain I have ever had. The prostate had completely closed off the urethra. I was in so much pain I could barely make it to the phone to call for an ambulance.

PLEASE... if this is your or someone you love's problem... GET HELP... don't wait because he may not be lucky enough to get to help before he passes out.

Normally or should I say usually, people don't have urges especially when they are asleep and the probable reason why you have that is because there is an increase in urine production caused by several factors. Increase urine production causes polyuria (frequency of urination) whether asleep or not usually observed to be above 3 liters per day while Nocturia is urgency to urinate rousing the patient while sleeping. The medical problems that will be enumerated here are just possibilities and have to be confirmed by thorough medical investigation so that proper management could be instituted. The symptomatology may vary but could point to one of these.

First is Diabetes Insipidus and frequent urination (polyuria) is one of the prominent symptom. This has something to do with inadequate antidiuretis hormone (ADH) production that is responsible for conserving water in the human body by influencing reabsorption of water in the kidney back to the circulation..

Second is Diabetes Mellitus. By having a high blood glucose caused by this medical problem, the elevated sugar in the blood surpasses the threshold by which the sugar are prevented to pass through the kidneys thereby as the sugar are discarded in the urine, it brings along water with it.

Other less frequent but still possible causes are:

Primary polydipsia - excessive intake of water often seen in habitual water drinkers, predilection, specific lesions in the brain or even medication can cause polyuria.

Solute diuresis - caused by excessivce filtration of solutes such glucose, mannitol and urea in the kidney bringing along water with it. Diabetes Mellitus fall under this category.

Furthermore, reduced bladder capacity caused by infection, tumor or stone in the bladder can cause inflammation and increase bladder iiritability causing frequent urination.

Chronic PARTIAL bladder outflow obstruction as seen in prostatic hypertrophy, urethral strictures, benign or malignant neoplasm or stone reduces bladder compliance due to the muscular wall thickening which I believe some of those who answered your question here have personal experience and knowledge especially that which point to prostatic hypertrophy but that is only one of the possiblities.

I am just hoping that nothing is really wrong with you and that is just due to an excessive intake of liquids by drinking a lot of water especially at night but it would give you peace of mind if you will have it checked so that adequate medical remedy can be instituted early if needed.

many things, if u drink alot of fluids especially during night or if u r under medication that contains a diuretic.
urinary tract infection ia also a cause and it is usually associated by one or non of the following dysuria frequency and urgency also fever may be present.
If u observe that u drink so much and eat so much more than in the past u should check your blood glucose, fasting amd postprandial (after meal by 2 hours) to know if there is diabetesmellitus also urine analysisshould be considered to check for diabetes insipidus.
if u r a man over 40 years benign prostate enlaegement should be considered.
in all cases u should consult a urologist. hope nothing serious.

Janet, it fairly is like the Cali human beings stay the former day in some strategies. For me it fairly is 2 hours, yet my brother lives accessible and each time i prefer to call him I might desire to evaluate the time distinction. It does suck, and the hour distinction between me and the East coast continues to be a discomfort. i think of you sense such as you in simple terms have been given going and human beings are telling you "stable-night'

There can be many possible reasons, from just drinking too much shortly before bed to urinary infections to prostate problems, but one common reason that needs to be considered is diabetes. It would be wise to see a doctor anyway, but a blood sugar check is important because untreated diabetes can be extremely serious
