This is not something totally unexpected given Steve loved to deal with dangerous animals and mammals. Very sad situation.

If this person is not a relative or friend of Steve's, they need to seek counseling because it is not normal for a person to be that overwhelmed with grief over a strangers death. It is normal if the person was close.

Depends on how close to Steve Irwin this person was. If it's just a tv viewer and admirer, I'd tell them to "get a grip!". Irwin was just another human who happened to live in Australia and liked to play with wild, and oftentimes dangerous animals that could kill him. He knew it, and he liked it, and he made a lot of money doing it, and it killed him. End of Story. God Bless you.

Be kind, don't ridicule the person. Even if he /she wasn't personally acquainted with Steve Irwin, he/she still feels the loss intensely.

Let him/her express his/her feelings of loss etc, don't pooh pooh his/her feelings.

Just be sympathetic and as empathetic as you can be, however if it goes on over a year, suggest gently that they might need to see a counsellor. Although again not everyone grieves in the same way.

If he or she is not a relative which would be understandable, take him or her to an alligator or crocodile farm and have him or her feed them Vienna sausages.
