No scientific and in fact consumer reports determined that refridgerator freezers with the freezer at the bottom were the most efficient, followed by freezers on top and lastly side by sides. Too much air in between items on the side by side made it burn more energy to keep cold.
The top freezer is for convenience because you can store the freezer items and most of the fridge items within arms reach.

Of course, there are side by side and freezers on the bottom as well (which I have). I think the most common type, with the freezer on top, is due due to the consumer's height and one's perception of which design is more convenient.

in the starting up , that is a Kenmore. That suggested, in case you've a swap that has lengthy gone out. that is uncommon that both lines that administration warmth extraction from both units ought to pass out together. the very shown reality that the freezer is getting less warm than you want even as some thing of the compartment is somewhat chilly signifies that you're certainly getting coolant flow, yet change isn't happening the way it ought to. before calling a repairman, i ought to first unplug the total unit for a couple of minutes and replug it. which will launch all switches in pumping mechanisms. If that would not fix the problem, then you extremely probable ought to have someone come and connect a defective swap or valve, some thing maximum human beings laymen won't be able to do extremely. notwithstanding, i does no longer recommend any type of skill challenge to the repairman. allow him opt for what's incorrect and do the fix. I talk from recent adventure. idea a timing belt had lengthy gone out and made that fact to the fix shop, who stupidly took me at my note. They ended up doing some important flow of factors including water pump actually to be certain what I had suggested replaced into no longer actual, and it replaced into some thing as ordinary because the distributor cap. distinction replaced into about $350 because I had to pay for his or her hours engaged on what I had idea replaced into incorrect.

It depends on the make. My refrigerator/freezer are side by side. Some freezers are on bottom, and some are on the top. I think that freezer on top is often done because it's become a standard.

I Guess this is to accommodate the chiller tray. If we keep the freezer at the bottom, there would be no place to accomodate the chiller and if the freezer is somewhere in the middle other thisgs should be kept in a split position and we would not be able to adjust the racks to fit in bigger things.

There is no scientific reason as such. The freezer is designed ergonomically.
