Does God have to be moral and does he have to do what the Bible says he will do?
We know that God has infinite powers, so isn't he capable of doing things the Bible says he won't do? For instance, hypothetically, couldn't God send sinners to heaven and non-sinners to hell if he so desired?

mstweetie, God has kept his promises in the past, but why should he keep his promises in the future? He has the power to keep his promises, but he also has the ability to break them.

"God can't sin"? God is capable of doing anything, so surely God is capable of sinning.

If God does something that the Bible says he won't, is God sinning? I mean, if God approves of the action isn't it holy?

i dont know anybody who has spoken to god , and had an answer , we really dont know anything about god or allah or any of the diverse entitys written about by men , all that we know is what another human wrote /said , some of which is directly opposite to the other statement , then these views or documents are modified or edited to suit the situation , the bible as you mention it for instance, some books ignored or removed altogether, some chapters written on heresay evidence hundreds of years later , to say we know this about god is rather taking a lot for granted , keep thinking about it ,

I'm a Hindu so the Bible is not our sacred text. However, that said, I guess the old saying "all things are possible" would hold true to answering your question.
Although Hindus generally hold that God operates through kripa and dharma (grace and justice) that can be seen operating in the natural universe itself like in karma (action) and it's law (law of action and reaction). God doesn't punish or reward...the law of karma is in place to do this. God merely exists (unless humanity's cries out then God incarnates in avatar form.....which God is still doing to this day....look at Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi or any numerous other incarnations that are working in the world today, some famous, some not famous). The entire universe manifested out of God, thus we are never seperated from God (because within each of us is the same divine spark that came from God at creation and reincarnates). The goal of a Hindu is to be reunited with God. And as far as Hindus are concerned no one could ever be do so much bad, build up so much bad karma, that eventually the grace of God could not bring them back into Its loving embrace. It might take that soul longer, but they will eventually get back to God (because it's really the only place to go...what's ultimately real).
Picture an ocean. Then see how the water evaporates into the sky and then forms clouds, the clouds are moved by wind and then when they get heavy enough the water falls back down in the form of rain. The rain falls on mountain tops and forms streams. The streams form rivers and eventually the river merges back into the ocean. God is the ocean, we are the individual water molecules making our way back to God. Though the river may bend and turn and have many obstacles along the way, ultimately the river will reach the ocean....every water molecule will ultimately get back to the ocean. Ultimately ever soul will get back to God.

For starters, let us not lose sight of the fact that the Bible was written by MAN, not by God. God is infinite, yes...He is also a loving and forgiving God. I personally do not believe in hell...I believe in reincarnation as going thru life is hell enough sometimes!
We may think we know all the answers, but bottom line is we have to go by what we feel in our hearts is right...not by what others say is right.

Firstly the bible didn't write God, He wrote the Bible! Within the pages of the Bible God reveals himself to us, because he wants us to understand, know him, love him, respect him and serve him. Looking at Gods universal creations both in heaven and on earth reveals to us that he is a God of infinite wisdom. His love for mankind and the earth is evident in the way he has designed all the complex life support systems both to man, animals and the planet itself. His laws show that he has perfect righteous standards that he has given us to help us have a loving and peaceful life, that enable us to enjoy every structure that he has implemented for our health and enjoyment. You'll note that when man sins against man, animal or the earth that it creates a domino effect of events that impact on all of us. Even under Gods law to the nation of Israel "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life" shows his perfect justice. If all mankind lived in harmony with "Do to others as you would Have Them do to You." that would really deter crime, greediness, abuse, hatred, etc. It may seem like a contradiction that Jesus said to turn the other cheek when we view other scriptures like an "eye for an eye" but these laws were given to demonstrate that Gods justice is perfect, he does not want us to take the law into our hands but he will eventually repay all for their actions, either good or bad. Looking at all this we see that God loves righteousness, he loves justice and he has a deep desire for us to be happy and peaceful.
Like a person who would never in his wildest dreams think of molesting a child, even though he could use his strength and power in that way, he could and never even let a thought like that come into his mind because of the man he his. God IS capable of doing anything he wants. He has no-one that could stop him if he would, BUT considering all the intense thought, love and most of all the giving of his son Jesus who died that we may live (thats another hard to understand story) why would he ever deny his self and his righteous principles and deliberately turn into someone that he finds detestable himself.

You talk about God as though he is some external power.
If you believe that then you are abrogating responsibility for your own truth.
I think god is necessary for us to deal with the mysteries of life, so let's put him there.
God is in the time before the universe and after it.
God is also in the mystery of the life of any living creature.
Science will never predict what your next thought or feeling will be!
Look for god on the inside, in your own body, in your feelings, thoughts. Practice sitting quietly and just see what happens!
Stop thinking about what God may or may not do to the world outside. Just look for the god in others.

God is Divine Love and Divine Wisdom. God doesn't make promises that He doesn't keep. The Divine Love organizes people into heaven and hell and keeps them in equilibrium. People are at a distance according to their reception of the Divine Love.

The god(s) invented by Jews and Christians change "his" minds all the time. According to the OT Jehovah chose Moses then decided to kill him, for no particular reason except "he" got in a snit with the Jewish leader. There are numerous incidents describing Jehovah's flip-floppy manic depression. The god they created isn't a very believable one without the hellfire and damnation clause to frighten people into "believing".

Honey, God doesn't care about our little old Bible or "sinners". He, she, it, they, are/is too vast for that. We have no idea who or what or if God is; its only our imagination. Don't put God in a box. Whatever we came out of is too huge for is to conceive of, believe me. God may have a sense of humor. More probably it (nature) simply doesn't give a damn, it just is. Rolls along like a river and sweeps us along with it. Thats all.

The devil said he will become God and put his throne above God's that will never happen but he will deveive many, he already has deceived many, but Jesus was sent to destroy the works of the devil and he did triumph over him making a show of him openly. So do you know what God you really serve, Jesus is the only way to the father.
