If you are looking for scenic areas, where you visited are good locations. If you want to stick to British Columbia, you can also try Abbotsford, Richmond or Surrey to be in the urban areas. I think Golden BC is nice, too and much closer to Banff. Just be aware that house prices are higher in these areas of BC than many parts of Western Canada (except perhaps Calgary and Edmonton).

Depends what lifestyle you want. If you can afford a nice home in Whistler, I am still single. You need a nice guy to look after you while here, or a bodyguard or driver....I am the man! Vancouver's real estate has gone up an average of 12% per year for the past 28 years! Always a good investment...I can help with translation also. I might be in for a big inheritance soon, but my mother doesn't like my Filipino gf...she wants to see me with a nice Caucasian lady...nothing more appealing from her perspective than a nice Brit! We could be good couple...stay in touch....

Vancouver and BC in general is the most expensive place to live in Canada, you could get the same home in Nova Scotia for half that price or less depending on what area. Nova Scotia is a great place to live, beautiful scenery (no snow-capped mountains though!;-) and friendly ppl. It's quite a different feel from BC, but if you were just looking for a place anywhere in Canada I would recommend NS (closer to the UK too).
Here are a couple sites that might help you:
Canadian immigration's page for newcomers: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/fact_02e.html
Look at the average house prices by province and city by scolling your mouse over the area: http://www.crea.ca/public/news_stats/statistics.htm
And here's a site about Nova Scotia, Cape Breton is spectacular for scenery and culture, and Halifax (the capital city) is quite vibrant.

Have a look at www.mls.ca for ideas about what is available.
You have to watch out for property tax though as it can be very high ($1,000's per year) instead of council tax and how the waste/sewage is treated.
If a property is described as a 5 and a half it probably has 3 beds a kitchen a living room and a bathroom (the half)
Good luck !

You visited all the high rent districts. If you have the bucks, you can buy a house in those areas, but if you're looking for something more reasonable, head over to Vancouver Island, or to the Interior of BC.
Glad you enjoyed your visit!
