At least you are respectful, and genuinely seeking knowledge, not trying to make this a forum for hating muslims, as a lot of people have. And yes, we are all brethren. We all believe in the same God, just fundamentally different.
There are a few major differences in our beleifs about who Jesus is, compared to the Christian beliefs about him. Muslims believe that Jesus was merely a man, a prophet. A human being and messanger who had power of healing, which was a power given to him by God. To us, he is not God. He was a great messanger, and a great man, but no more. We also believe that Jesus wasn't crucified, but taken up by God when evil people plotted to kill him. Another was made to look like him, and crucified in his place. I have come to believe lately that the one taken in his place was Judas Escariat, the one who betrayed Jesus. There is no way such a great man as Jesus would cry, "Oh, God. Why have you forsaken me?" I believe it was Judas. This is not completely proven, but not completely unproven, either. That means it could be possible. Read the Gospel of Barnabus in Wikipedia, and judge for yourself on this issue. Maybe you have already seen it. Some Christians are greatly offended by this idea. I don't see why.
Look back in the bible, and you will see there have been other times when people have been taken up for various reasons, such as Enos. Anything is possible with God, and we cannot say it's not possible. Our minds are too small to know this. Only God knows. We also believe as the Christians and Jews do that Jesus will come back and rule the earth for a time before the Day of Judgement. Isn't it wonderful to see how much we actually have in common? Thankyou for asking your question so respectfully, and for being genuinely interested in our beautiful religion. There is a reason why so many convert to Islam. Hopefully you will as well. Thank You and Peace with you as well.

we believe that al Massih Issa Ibn Mariam (the messiah Jesus son of Mary" is a prophet of God like you already know. The Qur'an also talks about his miraculous birth and it says that he was a "word from God". It also mentions that he was also able to perform a lot of miracles such as raise the dead, heal the blind, and lepers by the wish of God. It says that he never claimed divinity (neither to himself nor his mother) and he also never claimed to be the son of God. As for his death, we do not believe that he died or was crucified, God had raised his body and soul to heaven before the Romans could capture him and Judas was made to look like him and he was the one that was crucified. Like other people mentioned before me because Jesus did not die and was risen to heaven we believe that he will come back at the end of times.

Dear Brother Seeker
The Sunnis believe that Jesus is raised to heaven alive just like Christians. Sunnis are waiting for second coming of Jesus just like Christians. Shias believe Jesus is dead.
Status of Jesus is equal to Muhammad just like all other Prophets Moses, Abraham, Noah, Lot, Isaac, Ishmael.
I am a Muslim do not belong to Sunni or Shiite sect of Islam.

who is Jesus name in the Quran?
-his name is Al-Massieh Issa ibn-Mariam, which means the Massiah Jesus son of Mary
why is Jesus?
-one of the honor prophets sent by God to guide people toward the truth and to correct the path of Abraham of worshiping one God, and take off some of the laws which was applied in the Torah.
why would Jesus born in such a strange way?
-some of the reasons are unknown. but here is one of it. the children of Israel are too stubborn to believe, every time God send them a prophet they reject him. so God created Jesus in a miracle by a word Be! and to Be! from a spirit of Him. Jesus born in a miracle without father for a sign to the children of Israel that he is their prophet, and then God supported Jesus with the holy spirit and with the knowledge of the wisdom, and Torah.
did Jesus die?
when they tried to crucify him, God raised him soul and body, and change someone else to take his looks. and because he did not die , he will return back again at the end of days and later will die normally like any human being.
will Jesus return back?
Yes.

I realize that my reply may provoke many responses but this is what I believe.
All contemporary religious dogma has failed humanity!
All contemporary religious dogma divides the human family!
All contemporary religious dogma causes too many tears!
The whole of humanity longs for something that will bring us all together as brothers and sisters. Something that will allow us to embrace our unity.
Nothing I see on Earth today makes this possible!!!
Bless all souls. Peace and Prosperity to everyone!

Muslims view Christ as a prophet, which isn't right.

If you look at all my questions. They were not asked as nice as you asked. I received many answers. Isn't that weird? I would think they would answer you before even answering me, but they didn't. My advice is to rephrase your question and I am sure you will get answers. Good Luck!
