I lost 7 stone, does that count as a success story?!

Admittedly I lost most of it after I stopped going to Weight Watchers, but I found the group meetings to be very useful in re-educating myself about nutrition, and the support I received from co-members and the group leader was tremendous. My best advice would be to give it a try, what have you got to lose apart from weight?! The turning point for me was when I accepted that losing all this weight wasn't going to happen overnight -I realised that a couple of years spent retraining my eating habits and taking serious care of myself was going to be worth it in the long run, when I'd be fitter and much happier in the end!!! It's true!

Best of luck, and never give up! It's never too late!

I did weight watchers last year, without the classes or meetings etc. The thing I liked about it, is the books they give you cover almost every food in the supermarket and all the fast food places as well... So if you're craving a cheeseburger, you can have it... it just means you pretty much cant eat anything else that day.
It just puts a realistic spin on diet programs, cos you rememeber the things you ate and keep using it even when you go off Weight Watchers. :)
All the best.

My sister does it and reckons it is dead good. After learning and sticking to it, she actually maintains the healthy eating plan. She can always tell if she has put weight on again and then just goes back to it for a couple of weeks or so to lose a few pounds. She certainly doesnt forgo a night out with friends or holidays and stuff like that, because she knows that if one night she wants a good curry and god knows how many wines to drink, she will have them and then follow weight watchers for the rest of the week. Its something that definately works for her.

Good luck.

Honestly, the best weigh to lose weight, is to cut down on the crap stuff that we all eat, crisps, chocolate, fizzy drinks, alcohol etc etc, and eat more salads, drink more water. Then do more exercise.
I changed my whole routine in this way last year, and lost over 3 stone in 3 months, dropping from a 36 inch waist to a 32 in the process. A year and a half later and I havent put any back on, though obviously its a permanent lifestyle change.
I generally have more energy and more self confidence for it also. Whats a 20 minute jog most days in everyones life? An episode of Eastenders?

Oh yes,I lost 2 stone in 12 weeks and it is very easy to follow,I did the points one.It is very easy to follow,it does not feel like you are on a diet. The thing with weight watchers is it is all about portion control!

Yes, it does work. You have to work with it though. It's not that strict, it's just a matter of changing your habits and it's quite easy to do. You are weighed and going on your weight you are given an allowance of points for the day which you can use that day, carry over (or not) to the next, exercise will earn you extra points to use or not, you can exercise and keep them towards your weight loss instead. On average, you'll get about 20 points and will be amazed at how much you can actually eat in 20 points worth.

If you go to a class and they aren't nice to you, don't give up, find a different class, there's loads going on at various times, various locations so you'll always find something.

You do have to keep a watch on yourself after you get to your goal weight, it's easy to lapse but you'll always know things to avoid. Since I started about 3 years ago (I'm in it on and off), there are certain things I still haven't eaten since finding out the points.

(Ignore the 2 point seekers who will just slate you to get to a higher level!)

Im joining again tomorrow. I did it before, but got really bored with the points system. I eat crap, I can be good, but my food intake is limited because I dont eat and hate certain things. However, Im doing my own carb diet and slim fast and im only going for the weigh in as I think it would give me an extra boost if I went out and got weighed each week. However, years ago, when you used to have to weigh your food before you ate, my mum lost a total of 5 stone over a course of say 18months, and she kept if off. Whats good about it, is that it is a club, and your not alone and your unlikely to see a pretty young skinny thing with their bellies firm, flat and pierced.

My mom did weight watchers and lost 50lbs with weight watchers and exercising. Its easy to follow and you can eat what you want you just need to stay under or within your point range.

Weight watchers is very good, and very sensible. A friend of mine from university had a wonderful result and it totally educated her about food.

My only gripe about them is that they limit the amount of fruit you can eat..... who ever got fat from eating bananas & oranges?! and that their diet is meat-based they don't seem to promote vegetarian and plant food.

If you are thinking about it go for it. If you want to try something for free: I follow the 30% rule. Don't eat anything that gets more than 30% of its calories from fat (kCal). 1 gram of fat has 9 calories, you should be able to do the maths quite easily.

Avoid sugary things like juice & pop & drink plenty of water.

It is as good as you make it. What you put into it you will get out of it. I prefer a diet of my own and exercise. I don't care for the high priced meals. I lost a lot of weight by eating dried beans, you can leave the fat meats out and put in good things like onions and peppers. You can doctor them up the way you like them and they are good for you. If you read the back of the package it reads like a vitamin suppliment.
