How tall are you, Ashley? You are probably within the average range for your height, and you are entering the stage when you will probably soon start to grow quite quickly.

Talk to your parents about this before you start any weight loss program. They need to know what you want to do and will be able to help you by keeping nutritious foods in the house, etc.

The most important thing for you to think about is being healthy, and if you do the right things to stay healthy you will lose weight automatically if you need to and you won't lose weight if you don't need to.

Some things to include in your daily plan are...

1. Get active. Do sports you like to do ... swimming, walking, biking, whatever makes sense. And do it consistently and every day.

2. Eat nutritiously, based upon the food guides at the sites I've given you. Cut out most of the junk food.

3. Drink lots of water - at least 8 big glasses every day. Cut out most of the soda.

4. Talk to some adult you trust such as your gym teacher at school to get more ideas about things that would make sense for you.

Here are some sites that should help you. Show them to your parents as they will be interested in knowing what you are trying to do. Congratulations on wanting to take care of yourself and stay healthy.

Seriously, get off the computer and go out side and take a walk around your block instead. Join an activity at school. It doesn't have to be a sport but just something that will keep you moving, like the drama club. If you don't like to act you can always help out with set making, lights, audio, backstage stuff. You can do the same at local theatres. Can you get a paper route where you live? How about helping out in the yard, it's going to be a season that will need a lot of clean up from the leaves falling.

But, also remember that you have to take your height into account, you may be taller then other kids. And chances are you will grow into your weight. Just remain active. At your age, you probably don't need to go on a diet but rather just need more activity.

Yeah, at 5' you will be fine. That is actually a decent wieght for your height. Here is a chart to show you:

But like I said, you will grow into it. And if you become more active, you won't have too much to worry about.

The first thing you have to realize is that diets are only temporary. What it really takes is a change in your eating habits. One simple thing to do is to stop drinking soda and replace it with water. Soda contains hundreds of extra calories per glass most of them with no nutritional value.

Second, replace sugary snacks like cookies, cake, ice cream, with healthy alternatives like fruit and vegetables.

Third, get out of the idea that you need to stuff yourself at meals. Instead of piling your plate and taking seconds and thirds, Fill your plate with a reasonable sized meal. If you are in school, use the school lunch as an example of what I mean. Then eat and enjoy that meal and don't take more.

Fourth, don't deprive yourself of all the foods you love. Just eat less of them. If you normally take three scoops of ice cream for example, limit yourself to one generous scoop. Its making these kinds of cuts in your calorie intake that will start to make a difference.

Fifth, be physically active. Find something that you enjoy that gets you up and moving. Walking is great exercise. There are plenty of sports activities and other things you can do outdoors or at a gym that will help you feel better and burn off extra calories.

And finally, know that this all takes time. It took time to gain weight, it will take time to lose it. Doing it slowly by making real changes in your eating and excercise habits rather than trying to do it with a quick fix pop diet will give you lasting results rather than the yo yo effect and discouragement that accompany so many fad diets.

Unless you are really short, 125 is not really a bad weight. Just eat healthy foods, and exercise regularly. You are still a good age to develop really good for life eating habits.

This is not a good time to "diet", as you still have growing to do. If you follow a healthy diet, you will probably lose any unnecessary fat as your bones and muscles become more developed. This meaning of "diet" is not about weight loss, but about the types of food that are contained in your daily amounts of food.

If you eat a lot of junk food, your development may not progress properly, and fat may settle in to stay.

Top weight loss tips

Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.

* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.

* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.

* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.

* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.

* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

Someone suggested that your height might be of consideration.

I don't know what you eat but if you are eating healthy foods and staying active, then maybe you have a medical condition and your parents should get you checked out.

You also may just grow into the way your body should be. Anyway, good luck!
