(1) If he's under military protection, the military won't listen to direct inquiries from local nationals, period. The best you can do is wait for him to contact you.

(2) If you want to be proactive, you should go through your local branch of the Iraqi Police. Yes, I know, they're terrible - but the Americans will tell you to go through them.

(3) Who exactly did you hear the news that your brother was freed from? If he's in the Green Zone, chances are he's being retained for a debrief followed by a stay in the hospital to recover.

(4) I don't even think there's an American Red Cross representative you can reach outside the Green Zone. Route your inquiries through the American embassy; if that's failed, the International Red Cross. These are both rather indirect, and likely to not be really productive or efficient, but they're an alternative to talking to the IP.

Above all, just wait. If he's been rescued, he's fine and he'll show up in his own time. Wait for him to call you on your IraQna phone or show up back home.

Don't worry about comments like John P, his mom probably doesn't even love him.

The first thing you need to do is contact the nearest American Red Cross. Tell them that your brother is in the Green Zone in Baghdad. It's not a very big place, and they have contacted them thousands of times. Once you call them, they have a certain period of time to find your brother and get your message to him. This is the only sure way to contact him. It will work. Good Luck.

I'm very sorry to hear about what happened to your brother, but at least he's okay. He's safe now, and I'm sure you'll get to see him or talk to him soon.
Perhaps you could contact the embassy there? They might be able to help you.
I wish I had more advice to offer...
But I'll be keeping you and your brother in my thoughts and prayers.

People like John P. up there are going to Hell so ignore him..

You should be proud of your brother but its going to be next to impossible to contact him..If hes in a green zone than dont worry..Hell be fine..And youll see him when he comes back..
