She is 2 now so she is used to pulling, but i think our walks would be more enjoyable if she didnt pull all the time, even if she is only a little dog. thanks

When you take her out for her walk and she starts to pull, stop dead, turn round and walk in the opposite direction, it just totally confuses your dog and they start to stay close to you in case you are going to confuse them again, you might have to do it a few times to get her to take notice, but persevere as it does work.

Don't use a choke-chain.

Get a dog harness rather than a dog collar, that way when she pulls against it, she won't damage her throat.

Reward the dog for hanging back, but not for pulling against the lead - she will soon get the idea.

Use association - say the word "heel" whenever you want her to stay level with you and give her a reward for obeying - after a while just saying the word should work.

Train her. Short tugs when she pulls and say the word heal. You can use a pinch collar for more effect. You can train her in a matter of less than an hour if you are consistent with it. Don't let her pull at all or you have to start over again. When you say heal that means she stays right next to you without pulling. If you want to let her run ahead a bit tell her free.

I highly recommend a Gentle Leader. It is a head harness tht uses the concept that where the head goes, the body will follow. It fits around the dogs head right behind the ears, and around the muzzle. You can get them at any pet store. I have 2 Rottweilers, and this has reduced the pulling to almost nothing.

I used a leash that is retractable. When my dog would start to pull, I would retract the lead just a little bit (not enough to choke him) and say the word heel. When he would obey, I would give him a treat. Pretty soon, all I had to say was heel.

Remember to always reward your dog for good behavior.

short sharp pull on chain (not so that it chokes, just enough to get the message), followed by and authoritative, 'NO', reward with pat or treat when dog stops pulling. You will probably have to stop often to begin with but persistence is the key.

You could try stopping her walking and stand next to her she will eventually get to understand that the walk will be interrupted if she pulls
