Yes, it is rude, people do that, especially in the chat rooms. I was asked a question in a particular chat room, , gave the correct answer, and was ignored, she stayed in the room.. Another person thanked me for her.
Emergencies happen, but you come back when you can and say, like. "Sorry I had to cut you off, Lassie was barking, and we went to see why, and discovered little Timmy in the well. We had to take him to the ER."
You are a good and tolerant friend.

Yeah, I would agree with the comments about the unreliability of pcs sometimes. If it was intentional then it was rude, but I would expect she had little control over being cut off from you and probably feels awful about it. Next time you are in contact, bring it up with her - you are probably both in agreement about the etiquette here but if she isn't aware or doesn't see there was a problem, you need to raise it as otherwise it will restrict what you discuss with her in future so you both need to be clear on this.

Not polite. BUT msn does sign off by itself sometimes. Perhaps pay her a visit and talk face to face or use the phone.

OR, maybe she doesn't always want to hear your problems.

I'll bet she has wireless and it just went down in the middle of your conversation. It is awkward sometimes saying goodbye on im. It's not like the phone where you wind up your conversation slowly.

ur being a little too sensitive. If you need to talk to someone about your deep problems that badly, then you should get off the internet and talk to someone you trust in person

You wouldn't put down the phone without saying goodbye.

However, sometimes it can be a computer problem, or a line problem or a MSN problem. I got kicked off MSN three times today for no reason.

It is quite rude, since it doesn't fall under the proper 'netiquette'.

But the behavior can be excused if she was unintentionally signed off by forces beyond her means (i.e. Computer crash, electrical failure...etc.)

If she logged off intentionally, then yes it was rude. If she was logged out (or had a power failure at her house....or her mother pulled the plug on her computer) and she couldn't log back on....no it's not rude.

Just ask her what happened to her?
