Do you think it devalues the experience slightly?

It's true whether they like it or not

I am wondering in what context do the "religious" leaders say this. Who is making the "lie?" If they are speaking of SATAN and FALSE doctrines, then they have a point. Some might be offended if they condemn certain religions. Others will not be offended because they will see it as truth, if the doctrines are proven. If they are talking about religion in general, then I would question their devotion in general. THAT would devalue THEM, more than the religion itself.

What they are literally pointing out is propaganda techniques. Hitler's Germany can attest to these methods and they literally came right out and said, this is the lie, this is how we place it within the truth, we will keep saying it and eventually it will BECOME truth to MANY.

The solution: NEVER take anyone's WORD for it. Study it out, seek out the basic principles of any theology, doctrine, or "rumor." Take the principle OUT into the world and put it to the test. You will then have the experience you need to know what things are true and what things are false.

I'd say it depends greatly on the religious people. Some people in some religions probably would get offended, others would find it odd that a religious leader within the greater religion was even talking about lying when what they say is taken only with a grain of salt because the practice the religion for the experience.

Now, when politicians (or people who just want power) use it, people listen. And it is people who just want power who actually use this technique a lot. Thus in some religions people wouldn't be offended and when the technique was being used would mostly likely lose the followers who were listening to him/her and in other religions if the person said it would offend others but when using the technique would not leave because they wouldn't realize it was happening to them.

Man, you're talking about the evening news!

By the way, what experience are you suggesting is devalued here?

People with religion? You make it sound like they have the clap or something. What are you talking about? Or do you even know?
Are you suggesting that people who believe in God would be offended by religious leaders who say something is a lie because it does not go along with their "religious" beliefs?

The evening news, more often than not, is a lie, a big lie and is repeated over and over. True, many certainly do believe everything they hear or read in the news. So, which "lie" are you talking about? And, can you positively prove it is a lie?

Explain yourself.

It would be refreshing to hear a religious leader say something like that, though if the source of the quote is Hitler - which seems to be true - well that would be in bad taste.
I'd say the present Dalai Lama (ocean lama) is the closest to being honest, and said science could force him to adapt doctrine, and that monks couldn't really fly. It would seem cf. Buddhism's faithful medieval masses, that Hitler has been proven right. Hopefully things will continue to change, and a little more scepticism and evidential reasoning will one day be taught in our schools and homes.

"I WANT TO BELIEVE."

No, I don't think followers take any real offense from what their leaders say, nor from what they do -- after all, televangelists get arrested every day but people continue to fund their fake ministries. The need to believe outweighs everything, including actual evidence of crimes and misdemeanors.

I don't have the link (sorry) but I read a news article yesterday about a preacher convicted on several counts of rape (and awaiting trial for several more) who stood silent in the courtroom as one of his victims gave her victim impact statement. She said something about him abusing his position (true) and showing no remorse (likely true, the judge made a similar observation when handing down the sentence.)

Then another victim said something about how it was now her responsibility to take strength and comfort from her faith, to rise above the effects of his abuse. Or words to that effect.

I found this very telling. A man commits a terrible crime and is convicted of it -- and the victim takes a portion of the blame upon herself. Would she have done so if religion had not been an element of the case? If she had been, say, a convenience store operator robbed at gunpoint, would she have placed the onus upon herself to be a better person than the robber? I doubt it.

I don't know what "religious leaders" are saying things like that. Have you heard with your own ears this statement? If so, by whom? My hope is in Christ Jesus and the Spirit of Truth will guide my ways, not some 'religious leader" false or not. God gave us a brain to use. How sad many don't use theirs.

Hitler slaughtered others because of supremacy. He was no religious leader. Those who believe in the Lord never make the statement you made in your question. They believe in the Lord whole heartily. They know the Word of God is the truth. Why would they ever refer to it as a lie? That's just silly.

Well, I'm not sure what you're implying by this question.
Its intent is unclear.

But if you want to talk about repetition and 'brainwashing' in today's society, go No further than "Evolution"!!!

It is splashed up in schools and in media and in books, cartoons for kids and government run news items.
We're all being indoctrinated for this adult fairytale!!

They did the same with feminism and the idea that "we are committed to change'!!
We heard it everywhere; now it has entirely ruined families and has ruined our society!!
Who will stand accountable for it at Judgment Day??!!

Next is "Gayism".
All the Pushers are constantly beefing it to the frontlines, and parading it publicly for 'acceptance'.

These are all methods of the Gestapo!!

Do you consider Hitler a religious leader? He believed the bigger the lie, the more people believe and he turned a whole country against certain groups and to commit terrible crimes against huamnity belonging to those groups.

Addendum: Hitler disdained religion period. It is my understanding, he did favor the myths of the Norse gods and wanted information about them to be reintroduced to the masses.

Good question!

But think about these:

Jews for Jesus = Vegetarians for Hamburgers

Are Tables Chairs?

God? He or She?

Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

Does Imacculate Conception = "VIRGIN BIRTH"?

Google Imacculate Conception and learn something.

What else do you falsely believe, Immaculate Deception?

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Can Gods die?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?

No Eternal sacrifice, big deal for a day!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.

If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?

If you believe this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to believe it too to validate you.

Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.

Believing and not thinking is like choosing a mental illness and becoming truly lost.
