Want to escape home and christmas generally this December 22-27ish but on a limited budget (otherwise I'd go to Thailand or somewhere obviously). Any suggestions welcome . . . and/or invites...

Good luck! I try to escape Christmas every year. Your best bet, is to go to a Starbucks (sadly, some are open on Christmas day). Or go to Canada.

I cant and never will understand why people don't want to spend Xmas at home with their families. I am an ex Hotel Manager, Restaurant & Bar Manager and Chef. Over the years, wherever i have been, the atmosphere on xmas day is always miserable and mainly couples who dont have families to share this time with. Year after year, new people eat out on xmas day and usually admit it was not what they were expecting. Please if you do have any family, stay at home or you may become another who learns by their mistakes.....

Sign up to this link. It was sent to me and there was a flight to NY for £160 return, inclusive of tax!!

They will email you deals regularly. Also, you can sign up to airlinenetwork.com email alerts and get great deals that way.

In response to pat.rob00, I agree that UK breaks are just as good on a budget. The Lake District would be somewhere I'd love to go to. Advantage is no airport hassles.

Good luck.

i went to New Zealand last thanksgiving and before i left, a lot of the cities were decorated for Christmas and were have concerts in preparation for the holiday. i think it would be great to be in a place as beautiful as nz plus you would be among the first in the world to see Christmas day, (due to the international date line)
