You have the wrong Scripture address. I think that you mean Luke 12:10. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is denying his witness of Jesus Christ in your life. Using the "G.D." is a sin because it violates the second commandment not to take the Lord's name in vain. Any sin can be forgiven if you ask the Lord to do so and repent from committing that sin again. But remember, that every sin has its consequences. Repeated sin will just get you into deeper and deeper trouble with God. Sin causes a break in fellowship with God and blocks the anointing in your life. This is why it is important to live as sinless a life as possible. One sin, even the unforgivable sin, will not cast you into hell. If you die without receiving Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you will go to hell. If you die with unrepented sin, then you can lose part of your reward. This is why you need to renew your commitment to Christ daily. Do not wait or put it off, for you know not at what hour the Lord will require your soul.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not something which can happen today. It would require the Holy Spirit to be working directly among humans such as He did in the days of the Early Church and the lifetime of Jesus before the ascension.

Blasphemy is saying something is done by the power of Satan while knowing the direct power is of God. For example, when Jesus was casting out demons by the power of God and the Holy Spirit, some said He did it by the power of Satan. This was blasphemy against the HS.

Are you sure you meant Luke 12:6?? I read it, and it says nothing about blasphemy. I think you meant Luke 12:10, which is a little further down, and which does speak about blaspheming against the Holy Spirit.

To explain, if you blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, it means that you can never repent (which means "to turn away from") of that sin. I'm not sure what words someone could say to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit; therefore, I will not write them here.

In short, it's not worth your soul to do anything wrong, so be careful what you do, what you say, where you go, etc.

If you find that you have done wrong against someone, go back immediately and ask that person's forgiveness. That happened to me recently, and at the first opportunity, I asked that person to forgive me for what I perceived as embarrassing them publicly. I hadn't meant to do that in front of everybody, but I did mean to say what I had said to that person, and he took it in stride and forgave me.

To speak evil of the Holy Spirit. To reject him for showing a sinner the way to Christ. The job of the Holy Spirit is to point sinners to Christ and once a sinner blasphemeth the Holy Ghost then a sinner can never get saved, cause they ran the Holy Ghost off.

I don't have a Bible right here so I can't comment on that particular verse, but I can on the question about sinning forever. The Bible teaches that we are all sinners (Romans) and cannot get ourselves into heaven. We are born sinners and will always be sinners, because there is no perfect person besides Jesus. The difference between a Believer and non-Believer is that a Believer is someone who has been saved by the grace of God.

So yes...you will be a sinner forever, but not because of any particular sin, it is just our nature.

Hello Dr _ Kornflake.. :)

No..blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when someone has asked Jesus into their hearts and then no longer serves the Lord, they leave and deny their faith all together..they will no longer feel God's presence in their lives, and God will no longer tug at their heart strings..they will be just like there we in their beliefs before they asked Christ into their lives..usually worse off then before.. :(

==============================================

Hebrews 6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

8 but that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

==============================================

This is not the same as a backslider, for they will still feel the gentle tug of the Lord on their hearts..

Luke 12:6 does not say anything about sinning against the Holy Ghost, But to ease your mind, sinning against the Holy Ghost means that if you know something to be true, & you walk away from it, then God will Not deal with that person again, anyone that has commited that sin , God will not even deal with them, It won't even be a question they will ask or be interested in.

I don't have a bible nearby, so I don't know the exact verse, but I was taught(in a pentacostal church, mind you) that blasphemy against the holy spirit is to pretend you are filled with the holy spirit, and can speak in tongues and all that. It is an unforgivable sin. That's what I was taught, well what I can remember of it anyway.

I have no clue as to what it means to other denominations.

Adam W is right. Mocking the Holy Spirit is blasphemy and the only thing you can't be forgiven for.
