Use a paper towel to turn it off then. Most places have the sinks that you only have to put your hands under the tap and it will come on automatically. And the reason there are so many germs is because of the people that don't wash their hands. So there is a good reason to wash up!

You need to wash your hands frequently becaue of germs. When you leave any Dr. office for example, if you go visit someone in the hospital, there are so many germs in those places you can't even imagine. When you close the tap just use a piece of paper toweling i do that all the time. Make sure you wash your hands good for at least 20 seconds with antibacterial soap and dry them really good.

That's true, but that's why you can close the tap using a paper towel so that the germs go on the towel.
People are making an effort to prevent that kind of germ spreading. Have you noticed that there are more and more auto matic faucets?

You have a valid point. As you have probably seen in movies and on TV, medical personnel use their elbows when turning off the water before a procedure.
Fortunately, more commercial bathrooms have motion sensor taps, but when I'm not sure about the sanitation of a place, I try to use a paper towel when touching the sink handles.

Use paper towel to handle the tap in a public washroom. Some washrooms are now equipped with automatic taps that use a motion sensor to activate the water flow. Some special soaps do not require water - just rub the soap into your skin and wipe with a tissue.

After you wash your hands but before you turn the taps off, dry your hands with the paper towels if available and use them to turn the taps off.
If you want, carry waterless handcleaner with you and use it.

You have to use the paper towel to turn off the knob, then you will not spread germs.
If there are no paper towels then use something else, such as toilet paper.
