You sound like me--overweight, asthmatic, and have PCOS. Are you insulin resistant? Many women with PCOS are also insulin resistant and that can make it very hard to lose weight. It is definitely something you want to be tested for if you haven't been already. Metformin can help some women with IR and PCOS lose weight, but it's no substitute for good diet (low carb, low sugar) and exercise.
I've had the most luck with brisk uphill walking. Start off gradually, walking slowly on a flat surface for 20 minutes or so, and increase your pace, time spent walking, and the incline of your route as you build up to it. Stretch before and after you exercise to prevent muscle cramps. Be sure to take your inhaler with you in case you overexert yourself, and water to prevent dehydration. You want to build up muscle and to get your heart rate up and keep it there, but not to cause yourself to have an asthma attack. Just don't try to do too much in the beginning because your body has to build up to a steady exercise routine.

Why don't you try walking? It's free and you can do it whenever you like. Start off with a gentle stroll. Don't try to do too much too fast. If you can get someone to go with you even better. This is a good indicator for your pace as you should still be able to hold a conversation. If you're getting out of breath STOP. Go as far as you can without struggling, rest, then return. Try to build up the distance every week. When you feel yourself getting fitter maybe invest in a heart rate monitor so you know you're exercising at the optimum level. They're not very expensive. All the best. Don't forget easy does it!

I would advise you to start with walking and swimming. Try to build it up to 30 mins or more, this will start to burn existing body fat.
If you don't enjoy it find something else. It is trial and error at first, as you need to see what you enjoy.
The Chief Medical Officer recommends that you exercise at a moderate level for 30 mins 5x a week. (To reduce risk factors)
Start with walking to the shops, getting out of the car and walking to work, get out at dinnertime and see how you feel.
Also look at what your eating, record down every day for a week what you are eating and drinking. It's surprising at how much you don't realise what you have consumed over a day.
Look at eating 5 fruit and veg a day and take out the fatty snacks. Don't what every you do, go on a 'diet' instead change your lifestyle and your eating behaviour.
I'm afraid their is no quick fix when it comes to weight loss, but the benefits outweigh the work.
Good luck you can do it! x

I had PCOS and was on Metformin for years. I'm sure you know PCOS is pretty much caused by an insulin response problem. The best thing you can do for yourself is adopt a low fat, low calorie, low carb diet. Also, begin walking. Maybe you do 1 mile for a couple of weeks and gradually build up.

If the food recommendations from the vet are working, definitely continue with that. As far as toys that will help, that really all depends on your cat's personal preference. My three cats all love to play, but their tastes vary greatly. The oldest will only play with a feathered toy. The middle will only play with fuzzy toys. The youngest will only play with laser pointers. Consider what your cat enjoys, or try a little of everything. Her age is definitely a factor in why she's slowing down, but even her rolling over and playing on her back is a start. You can't expect her to get up and run a kitty marathon right away =) Let her build up to it.

Get a dance mat! seriously, it sounds stupid but they're absolutely fab! and you can get double ones that mean you can have competitions and stuff. GRRRR! I'm asthmatic too but have no problem with the mat. I just take my inhaler before and set the mat on a really gentle setting. And even if you go completely wrong you're still moving! boogie on down and get a dance mat!

Yoga and Pilates, it teaches you to control your body, and yes, you do loose weight, and all the breathing techniques can help with your asthma (it won't cure it, but it'll get better)
Just make sure you get a good teacher, who can adjust all the exercises for you, check their training and experience Try at least 1 class a week

Get your IVF-invitro fertilization treatment in India .IVF treatment ,IUI,ICSI,PCOS and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all types of medical treatment andsurgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as some of the surgery including ivf treatment is not covered by insurance.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your PCOS treatment can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The doctors are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.I recently also read about a chinese couple facilitated by forerunners healthcare were able to get their baby by IVF and a surrogate mother.
my cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the forerunners healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full treatment for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.I strongly recommend this company to you as they can be of great help to you.hope this helps

Wear comfy shoes in order to take meetings for a walk as an alternative to sitting at a desk.
