A neighbor asked if she could adopt my daughter's cat, and I told her that I would need to speak with my child. I hadn't got back with her by the time I hear the news that the cat is living in her house, and she's already taken it to the vet. My daughter is absolutely heart-broken, and this woman is being horribly cold to my little girl. Now, this woman's children are attached to this cat, and I don't want to hurt THEM. She took it upon herself to take the cat to the vet, or she could be lying, (which is what I hear from the other neighbors) I personally don't care that she has the cat, just that she didn't wait for me to get back with her about the adoption, and she's being a real b*tch to my daughter when she asks for the cat back. What to do......what to do......

Doesn't sound like you were taking very good care of the cat, maybe that is why the lady wanted it. Cats need a good home. An indoor space for them to be safe and warm. I don't mean to offend you at all, but maybe a cat is just not for you. I suggest cutting your losses and getting your daughter a hamster. No one can take that away.... Good luck.

You're right.... your neighbor is being a b*tch with a capital B.
The least she could do was wait for you to give an answer and let your daughter say goodbye or something. Or even agree to a mutual visit sometime. I know how your daughter feels because I too had to give my cat for adoption, but i know where he is and i can visit him. I think you should ask you ex-neighbor for your cat back. Or you can adopt a kitten and show to your neighbor's kid. Kid usually love kittens. then you can trade. your cat for the kitten. or you can do it the drastic way. Kidnap her kids and ask for the cat as ransom....or Kidnap your cat back and move to Canada A.S.A.P! But I wouldn't want you to go jail. hehehe This is just something to lighten the mood. Tell your daughter to be strong ok? People who is mean to you will get what they deserve.... Like getting run over by a truck... Again, just joking. Good Luck.

If a Neighbor ask me to adopt my daughter's cat. Uh mm. The answer would be NO!!! If the cat got up and went to your neighbor house and does not come back, that tells me something. You do not how to treat a living Animal Or your Daughter was mis treating the cat. I wonder which one if not both??? Animal Know good Owner and bad owner,

If you had the cat outside and hadn't vetted it, then you weren't being responsible. You should use this as a learning exercise for your whole family so that if you DO acquire another pet in the future, the FIRST thing you do is take it to the vet and keep it indoors and under your supervision at all times. Then no one will walk away with it before you realize it.

Your neighbor was extremely insensitive to your daughter's feelings.
Were you neglecting the cat in some way that caused the neighbor to immediately take the cat to the vet?

if you were doing your job right and you aleady took the kitten to the vet for her shots then she does not have any right in taking the kitten .. you should get her back
but if the kitten was sick maybe that was why the lady took your kitten to the vet to save it .. but still she does not have the right to adopt her without you giving her the OK for it .. think what you want to do and then go and tell her either to take care of the kitten and let your child from time to time play with it .. or just go over there and ask her to give the kitten back to you

how did she get possession of the cat in the first place? im afraid to say if it was an outside cat turned into an inside cat probably there would be no way to prove it was yours to begin with you are probably better off getting your daughter a new cat and keep the new one inside so this wont happen again

Get your damn cat back. It may not matter to you if the cat is there or not but it's your daughter's cat. Right now you are teaching her that it is ok to steal/take things that aren't yours. Get the cat back. Your daughter can share the love of the cat but the cat is hers.
