Ignore the 2 pointers who are only interested in 2 points and give stupid answers !. Now to your problem ! what is probably happening is that the powers supply inside the TV has gone into safety mode whereby if too much current is being drawn by the rest of the set the power supply drops into safety mode. The fault causing this is usually the line amp transistor gone short circuit, maybe the line amp transformer ( fly back ) has a shorted turn and taken out the transistor, the possibilities are endless so if you are not equipped to trace the fault and effect a repair yourself then your best course is to invite a TV tech to examine and give you a rough idea or estimate for the repair, Good luck anyway !
Oh and to put your mind at rest I have never ever seen a TV explode in 45 years and several thousand repairs .!!!!!

Sounds like the main motherboard has developed a fault (probably the power converter). Unless it is under 12 months old you are in for an expensive repair bill, sorry.
If it is under 12 months old you have a warranty as set out by the consumer credit act 1974, if you bought through a retailer your contract is with the retailer, regardless of what they tell you. If you bought through a wholesaler then you must go to Sony direct.
Your local Sony centre will be able to direct you to the nearest authorised repair centre.
Hope this helps.

This may help but be very careful and turn off the power and unplug the TV.
Most TV's have internal fuses. Same sizeish as 13 amp fuses in plugs but clear (see through).
These are 20p in good electrical shops.
Take the back of the tv but as I said b4 be very careful.
Have a look around. It should be visible.
You can clearly see if it has blown.
Take it out and get a new one and replace.
If the problem is anything else either call a repairman or buy a new TV.
TV's can explode when tinkered with so don't fiddle with anything you don't understnd.
And just in case where a pair of goggles or glasses to protect your eyes.
Hope this helps.
