Well, it works to start out by giving your name and saying hello. I would not dive right into my resume or biography, but engage her in conversation, letting her speak, finding out more about her and letting her know more about me and my likes, dislikes, etc. as we are speaking.
In terms of my personality, it is best to act yourself and let your true personality come out as you are talking to a girl. That way she will see the true you and can decide whether she likes the way you are or not.

well you are going to have to be very well mannered. when i met my wife i tried to be as well mannered as i knew how. of course after you start to know someone a little better then you can let loose and relax somewhat. Allways open doors; that doesn't stop ever. uhhhh give flowers anytime, that's allways a good thing. and be spontaneous

Depends upon the purpose to meet. In this column we can take it for granted that it is for dating only. In this case, we should be as direct as can be.
"Hello!! I am so and so. how would you like to spend an evening with me" may be enough.
