use a glass or ceramic baking dish .
the acid in the tomato sauce reacts with metal and you could end up with a "tinny" tasting pasta.

As long as you use stainless steel, you should be allright. Do not use cast iron with tomatoe products because the chemical reaction will cause youur dish to have a metallic taste. I prefer to cook all baked pasta dishes in glass containers.

Good luck with your pasta dishes.

you can use either one, i prefer the stainless steel, as i have used in foodservice for approx 25 years, including baking certain pasta dishes. you wont get a "tinny" taste from stainless steel. think about it, all restaurants use stainless steel pans in their kitchens, especially places like olive garden....best of all....no tinny taste.

also you can not put a metal dish in the microwave oven, as it may create an elctric arc and can damage the oven and is a fire hazard
