This is the perfect frosting to go on a chocolate cake
Kahlua Frosting
1/3 cup butter, softened
2 1/4 cups icing sugar, sifted
2 tablespoons Kahlua
3 tablespoons instant coffee
1 tablespoon hot water
In small bowl dissolve instant coffeee in hot water.
Beat butter at medium speed in a mixing bowl until creamy.
Add gradually powdered sugar, kahlua and hot coffee mixture.
You can add more kahlua if you want a stronger coffee flavor frosting.
makes frosting for 1 9X13 cake.

If it is the same type of cream cake I am used to, then it would be difficult to frost. Try glazing it instead, with a mixture of powdered sugar and water. Glaze just gets poured over the cake. You can then serve it as-is, with whipped cream to spritz on the top. It is delicious!

I agree that if it already has a cream frosting in it... a chocolate glaze, or some berries on top (or maybe even both) sound AWESOME!

I would used real berries. Go for the darker berries like rasberriees, strawberries, blue berries. Also make a sause with the berries to give it a nice bright color. Always be creative, I would know since I am going to school for culinary arts. :-)
