Parents who keep there kids off the religious path are just pushing there own values on there kids. The way of the world is a law/religion in itself, people in groups are so predictable and similar they just pretend they are free but have set behaviour and follow it religiously. Thats how yo identify with each other, Saturday footie, friday pub or drink heavy, corrie, enders, chat show, star gate... yuk. Many kids including me have fallen out with parents trying to find God. Jesus is a winner man.

"Parents who keep there kids off the religious path are just pushing there own values on there kids."
Eh, and exactly what are parents who push their kids down any particular religious path doing? The same.

The thing is, most people think they are right when it comes to religion and they want to teach their kids "the truth". They don't accept that it's not the truth but just a theory that can neither be proven nor disproven. A lot of people insist they are right and try to push their beliefs on others and brainwash their own children right from birth. In my opinion it's not good to do that, regardless of which path the parents follow.

I don't have children, but if I ever have some I want them to find their own path. I want them to learn about different religions and about science and then they can choose the path that makes the most sense to them, what is right for them. I don't want to push my (dis)beliefs on them.

I actually was forced to go to church as a kid and hated it. I'm now an athiest, for reasons too complex to write about here. (besides, that's not the question you asked).

If I ever have kids, I'll tell them I don't believe, but will not oppose any choice they make about their religion. they can make their own minds up as I did. It would be exactly the same for any big choice they made, (eg career, sexuality etc). I'm not opposed to people believing in God, It's just not for me. I prefer scientific explanations.

One day ur child would say - My dumb father/mother followed my grandparents fairy tale books and gave me someting called religion.
We are in the 2006 , another 40years from today , another Bill gate and Van . . . . ..
Jesus is a winner , there are more great men died for the benifit of mankind. They thought what they do is the best. Because they belive what they did is the best that time.

Youy are totally confused
Atheists are not pushing anything
It's the Mormons, JW's, Muslims, Anglicans, Catholics, Sikhs, Hindus and every other religious community that is pushing.... Pushing their religious judgemental fairy tales on to weak unsuspecting minds

Pushing your religion on kids is tantamount to mental child abuse.

People with religious parents are just as unlucky, pushing jesus is much more evil, it shrinks the percuptual abilities of the mind, the end.

are you quite right there? My other half is not religious at all but he certainly doesn't teach my children to steer clear of believing in God. He has no prob with them attending church/ musicals/plays of the christian religion. Try not to be so general and perhaps dont put all of your judgements into one barrel...

You are correct: Maybe we should all lie to our kids about Santa Claus, and team up with the Catholic Church and bring on the next Inquisition.
