as a publican i have recently found out the true colour of a guinness? and believe me you would be shocked as i was to know it snt actually black.

Of course it's not black, it's simply a very dark brown due to the colouration coming from the use of dark roast malts.

Phrases like dark ruby, amber etc are just descriptions used by the brewing trade to differentiate between different shades of brown.

Deep deep red. Harp brewery (the folks that make the stuff) refer to it as "ruby"

dark ruby aint that bad could be worse Coca cola used to come in green bottles so that you couldnt see that it was actually green (also it had cocaine in it)
